I am a roller coaster newbie. I’ve always been terrified of them. Great America is my hometown park, and a few weeks ago, I did my first ride, x flight. After that, I was completely hooked. Personally, Viper is my favorite, but I love them all.

I grew up in Gurnee, went to Six Flags Great America innumerable times throughout the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. A lot has changed but a lot has stayed the same. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

I would love for you to do different theme parks all over the country (or even the world). It’d be a nice change from Disney (which I love but don’t want to see every day).

On Demon: "That was actually not that bad. It's pretty smooth." Famous last words. That ride nearly knocked me out on that dive into the corkscrews.

Rollercoaster history enthusiast here with a fun fact. American eagle was built in 1981 so yes its old but wooden rollercoasters were first starting to be built in the early 1900's. Also in front of any historical rollercoasters you might find a sign that says ACE on it Six flags great america has several you can see one for wizzer at 4:39.

I live in Illinois and this park was always my favorite through the years. The Whizzer was always my favorite to hop on and just enjoy. Especially that spiral lift. Back in the days (80s) they use to have a monster arcade full of all your favorite arcade games. That alone made me revisit a zillion times. I really miss those days. Thanks for posting this!

Love Great America! I remember when it opened up in the summer of 1976. It was operating as Marriott’s Great America back then. Two coasters remain from opening day…the Whizzer used to be called Williard’s Whizzer (named after Willard Marriott) and was really great at night. The Demon used to be called Turn of the Century when the park opened and was converted to the Demon in the early 80’s. I remember when the American Eagle was built in 1981…it was a really big deal. That Aquaman water ride goes back to opening day, was called something different then. It’s a great park that really has a great selection of coasters now. Was sad back in the 70’s though because when Marriott’s Great America opened up, it caused my favorite local amusement park to close…Dandelion Park, just west of Milwaukee in Muskego. Thanks for the memories!
  • I would love for you to visit every single Six Flags in America. I think that would be great.
  • @-Bert-
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jersey is definitely a must visit for their parks. Love the rides there it's great if you're into thrills Edit: if you were afraid of that one launch coaster you might not wanna try Kingda Ka lmao
  • IN 1996 & 1997 I actually worked at the Demon! It was so much!!! I was there the year it was stuck upside down! Love it!
  • @flashback0978
The Whizzer is such a gem, you should come out to the other Great America in CA, its a trip going to the "other" Great America that you are not used to
  • Love this!! This is my childhood park and I haven’t been since high school either and I’m 25 now 🥲
  • @danl.4312
I absolutely loved seeing this, THANK YOU! Brings back so many childhood and high school memories and the park still looks really great.
  • @cjVend

The Whizzer was my first roller coaster! I grew up going to Six Flags in Gurnee every summer. Haven't been there in years now! I need to make the trip down from Green Bay soon!
  • @brendabooth737
We have visited almost all the Six Flags in the US. Our favorite is New Jersey Great Adventure. The Six Flags Over Texas in Dallas is fun too. Our home park is the one in Gurneee. I suggest the season pass that lets you park for free and visit all the parks too. Good luck and enjoy your time at home.
