Stupid app hangs. Had to switch back and forth between Home and Generac Wi-Fi. Also need to log off/on to get the Generac data to show. Keeps saying disconnected but it’s connected.

I had our unit on wifi with the help of our son. I didn't see a big advantage of wifi except for some useless data. Then the wifi extender went out and no data. Did I miss it??? Not a bit. Mister A below is one of my kind of fellows. I'm 80 and this app and wifi stuff is nothing more than a pain in the butt. Yup, took at the green light and if it turns to redish orange and green it means service is needed. The service is for it's yearly oil and filter change, another rip off. They wanted $360.00 to change two spark plugs, filter and 2 quarts of oil. Also wanted to "adjust" the valves for another $360.00. For the red/orange light just reset the display.

I have had my generator for over 10 years now. We had a couple of tornado's in the area (Houston, Tx) and we were out of power for over 6 days. The generator ran for that 6 day period, night and day. I did stop it and check the oil several times (It was OK) and I started it back up and it continued to run without any problem. Mobile Link was available at that time but I did not get it. Now both WIFI and Mobile Link is available but after reading the problems people have experienced I have about talked myself into NOT getting either one. It would be just one more thing to fail. On the news it showed AT&T has massive cellphone/internet outages and Verizon may not be far behind. If this is caused by hackers I would not want them to get into my generator and shut it off during a storm or power failure.
  • Is there any way to get the phone app to work and monitor the generator without having to sign up for that monthly fee? Seems kind of stupid and usurious. My Rainbird irrigation system can talk to my phone app and I can control the schedule on my home irrigation just by buying and plugging in that Rainbird wifi module for $95. That's less than TWO months worth of subscription fees to Generac to do the same thing!
  • I’d really love to know why people who can’t operate a phone constantly want to monitor thing on their phone the avg age of customers are old people 😂 then they call you out for the my mobile link isn’t working bs so annoying just go outside and look at the green light boomer😂😂😂😂😂
