  • I’ve not ever seen anything with such a strong message like this in any type of a short performance…. This should have received the Platinum buzzer. I would see these performers live and without hesitation pay for such a powerful artistic exhibition. Thank you both unbelievable.

I was not prepared for this. And I am still shocked. The beauty of dance to tell such a dark story is a wow moment. When she broke that lamp, I got hit with a flood of memories I have tried to bury deep. As the oldest child of parents who were like this, I did everything I could to protect my younger brother and sister. I also protected my mom as well. I was 7 years old when I saw the fights, the perfume being thrown through a wall, the car almost being flipped when they went at it, the tears, hearing the yelling, and watching my mom being pushed down a flight of stairs. Listening to my father emotionally and verbally abusing me. My escape was my music as I am a pianist. When my dad died there was no emotion, and I had to be forced to attend that funeral. By that time my parents were divorced. Strange how no one remembers the children who are often the audience to the parent's abuse, the children who remember or retreat into a different world. That lamp brought back a flood of memories and I have dealt with the past. I just need to continue to deal with those memories and to stay strong. My sister is also a musician and the first song she wrote has become my anthem - "I Like Myself, I Like the Way I'm Different From You". If you are someone who has also been affected by this performance, there is always light and a different chapter for you to write.
  • WOW, So Moving, as a woman who left an abusive relationship, I cried because I relived it in that dance!! Thank you for showing the battle between love and violence. Golden Buzzer in my mind.
  • @charles11115
This performance brought tears to my eyes! I am a survivor of abuse as a child and as an adult! The way they expressed themselves and the way they danced was moving! I just wish they got the golden buzzer! Its happening all over! Amazing! Ive never seen anyone dance and express themselves this way before!
  • Sometimes there aren't words... Sometimes there are only feelings you can't hide... So painful, so beautiful. You get the golden buzzer from me... ❤️
  • This so deserved the GOLDEN BUZZER - thank you for sharing your story. It will i imagine help others tell their story, and be brave enough to voice in what ever works for them in setting them free, Thank you.

I'm so happy to be the first comment. I saw this performance live in Niagara Falls when it was taped in October 2023. It was filmed on the last day of auditions and all the golden buzzers had already been used up. This was a GOLDEN BUZZER audition. With all the respect in the world to the golden buzzer winners, THIS has been the only performance I've seen on CGT this season that made me go WOW, THIS IS SPECTACULAR. I was there in person and I have to say, it was breathtaking, chilling, and powerful beyond words. The entire auditorium was silent for the whole performance. It was a silence that was so profound. We were all taking it in. Their artistry, their technical ability, the way they flow together and crumble and crash. So beautiful. They are very, very talented. And she is beautiful as well. I hope she knows that. Thank you for telling your story, Marie-Josee. Thank you for sharing it through dance. If they don't get put through to the semi finals, I will not watch the rest of CGT season 3.
  • This is definitely a golden buzzer performance 🎉 Well-done guys.
  • if any of the viewers find this dance painful to watch because it brings you back to "that" place I am with you as I am a survivor of abuse. If any viewer finds this dance painful to watch because you do not think it will happen in your circle of life, I plead with you to rethink about the subject of the dance. I pray that no one, child, woman, man will ever experience abuse; yet, it does happen. Prayerfully to you or someone you love dearly, but it could be happening right next door. Speak out, seek shelter, call for help. There is hope only when abusers are arrested, tired and placed into incarceration. This only happens when charges are made by the one who is being abused, at least this is how the law work in the USA. May that be true also in Canada.

This performance actually made me tear up and I'm not a crier. The vulnerability, the dancing, the storytelling... I've never seen anything like it. Maybe create a platinum buzzer? lol. The acting and the dancing was so fluid... I can't find the right words. Wow. I hope they make it ALL the way.
  • @user-xw8nr8yw1i
A very Outstanding performance! I'm still teary eyed even after watching the performance because I can relate with what the story is all about.
  • @tinacollins2055
Proof that actions speak louder than words! đź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź’•đź’•
  • Domestic Violence is a global issue . thanks for sharing. left me teary eyed. From Trinidad and Tobago.
  • I love when dance is less abstract, tells powerful message for the dancers and the spectators. When talent is used meaningfully... It is really something, it is beautiful ❤
  • @Debra-um6pl
With the vague description Marie-Josee gave prior to the performance, I knew in my heart it was going to be a story about domestic violence. I too am a survivor of a violent domestic assault. My body grew tense, and tears came to my eyes as her story unraveled. I found myself holding my breath and flinching as the violence escalated. My own story was silently playing in my head, and I could feel her fear and pain in my gut. During a physical assault there is an “intense drive to survive” that kicks in. This was beautifully executed by Marie-Josee fighting back throughout the dance. The remorse Jason showed as Maria-Josee lay motionless on the floor tore my heart out because that is exactly what violent abusers do! The remorse never lasts long and sadly, is one of the reasons why many women do not press charges against their attacker and get out of the relationship. Thank you for sharing your story Marie-Josee and bringing this horrific problem to life! Well done – powerful and beautifully orchestrated. They should have received a golden buzzer!
  • @TheBabygobyby
I so understand and feel every one of these moves. Like her, i also came out alive. I have nevver been so moved on how this was expressed. Scars can been hidden , mental ones also need repair. Bless her beautiful heart.
