Thank you! Congrats on owning two beautiful pups. They are certainly loving life, and that is a credit to you! It was a great share to see them running the hillside.
  • Awesome athleticism. My female chased deer as well, didn't catch them either.

These are two (fixed) boys, similar in age. They just have two different personalities. Have fun with yours!

  • Hi I want to get two Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies but I'm worried that they won't do well in very hot weather. What do you think about it?can they handle hot very weather well?

Where is this? it looks like Eastern Oregon.

Is one a female? If so, does one gender demonstrate stronger hunting instincts? One chased the deer completely over the ridge while the other seemed less involved in that chase. I ask because we expect to take two female Ridgebacks hiking and mtn biking, off leash, after extensive training, and we are wondering if the females possess a hunting drive/determination that would trump all previous training. Thanks!

My experience is they will kill what they can. If the game is too large or dangerous they will bay it. If there are not enough dogs to bay it or natural barrier to back the prey into they will instinctively move it to YOU. I changed my shorts after my RR and a Catahoula moved a 300lbs boar through our camp. I saw a 10 point buck less then 500 yards from us and my RR girl wanted nothing to do with him. We had no other dogs with us.

you are way off mate I have a female ridge back that's been pulling down deer by herself.scents tracks an kills by throat full grown mature red hynds stags, goats an pigs.that is exactly wat there designed for lol.

amazing dogs i have 3 my self if you would like to look them up I will be putting up weekly of them growing up if you would like to watch me raise them

theey are not kill dogs they are bay dogs. hence they most likely would not go for the kill as that is not what they are designed for.

The only dear they would have caught was a sick one and should have been taken. Or they would have had to run it down for 20 miles.
