Thanks to recording engineer Doug McClement for the following information on the band members.
"The band was made up of Toronto session musicians
Bass: Rick Homme
Guitar: Bob Mann
Drums: Terry Clarke (who just celebrated his 78th birthday last week) he's still an A level session drummer in town. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Clarke_(drummer)
Synth: My longtime friend Lou Pomanti, still a major keyboardist and band arranger here in T.O. He has an amazing r&b horn band called "Oakland Stroke." • Oakland Stroke "Spinning Wheel" feat....
The Musical Director of the series was the late Bobby Edwards, and Camera Director was the late Ron Meraska.
The exec producer who put together all the amazing pairs of musicians for the 26 episodes of 'In Session' was the late Ian Milne Anderson."

Stumbling upon this in 2024 and having the best hour ive had in a long time. what a couple of voices and talents.

I was fortunate to be the recording engineer on the In Session series for both seasons (that's me in the control room in the grey shirt) It was an unforgettable experience. I have several photos I took backstage during breaks. Glen and Leon were a pleasure to work with. Glen had no star attitude whatsoever. Hung out with the crew at lunch. Leon was a bit more withdrawn, but a real southern gentleman. Glen also did an episode in Season 2 in 1988, with Jimmy Webb.

I’m a heavy metal guitarist and Glenn is one of my favorite players along with Jerry Reed. 🎉

Glen Campbell is one musician I would NOT want to jam with. I mean one of the greatest lead guitar players and than he decides to become a frontman, and his voice might be even better than his guitar playing. What an absolute musical giant. RIP Glen.

That guitar break on Gentle on My Mind was soooo sweet
-
This is an absolute historical treasure.
-
Thank you, YouTube algorithm for leading me to this gem.
-
Those guitar riffs on Gentle On My Mind are like opium for the soul.
-
More talent between the two of them than during the entire Grammy Awards in last few years.
-
Saw Leon in '73, changed my life.

Glen Campbell was the soundtrack of our summer travels. Leon Russell, I grew up in the Pearl District of Tulsa, Ok, during the 70s, about a mile from Leon's Church Studios. During the 70s Eric Clapton and George Harrison were in love with the Tulsa Sound being made with Leon and J.J. Cale, because of this they were frequently in town. Ran into Le4on, George and Eric in the health food store, they came in for some fresh yogurt, my buddy grabbed my wrist and said, "Be cool, they come in all the time, don't want to run them off", I did stare a lot thought. After graduation my buddy stopped by the Church Studio and asked Leon for a job. A week later I was at the OKC Airport, when suddenly Leon and his entourage hurried by, late for a flight. My buddy, loaded down with 5 carryon bags was hurrying to keep up, I asked Tony, "Where ya headed, he said, Europe, I got the job, I'm a roadie."

Two legends. I think Glen was one of the best guitarist ever.
-
Glen had talent oozing out of every pore. Helluva singer. One of the greatest guitar players that ever drew breath. He was even a great golfer. A true musicians musician.
-
Leon is just out this world- effortlessly, epically slaying every change on the keyboard with taste and style. Ditto for Glen Campbell- one of the finest guitarists and singers in country music history. Just genius!
-
Leon Russell ❤ Such a great singer & musician. Timeless. Glen surprised me, not just a country singer. What a great pairing of 2 icons.👍🏼
-
Glen gave me chills when he started singing "You've Lost That Lovin Feelin" Bravo Glen and Leon ❤❤❤❤. And Leon nailed "You Don't Know Me".❤

My dad used to sing and play Gentle on My Mind on guitar. He taught me to lay guitar when I was in 9th grade. We used to sing and play together. He's been gone 5 years, miss those days..
