    WOW that reminds me of my 320i back in 1985 Black/Gold BBS/Fulda Tires,4sp. It was slick for a freshman in College TCU💜,I now 40 yrs later I own now a 2000 E-38 750IL -V-12. TX🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🥃🥃,Titanium Silver/Black Leather/Crome package,,I love it now turning 59 yrs old in June💜💜💜👍🥃
  • Hey bud, I wanna thank you so much. Because of you, you helped me find out my vacuum leak problem and as well as the shifting problem I thought for sure it was my shifting solenoids that went out
  • I’ve always thought the E38 was the best looking BMW ever made. I don’t know what happened to BMW over the years but the new ones are not my favorite that’s for sure. Enjoy that beauty!!

So I'm facing the same cooling system refresh on my TitanSilber 01 740i and have been cleaning things up first because it's the same as yours and I kinda like NOT having a greasy disaster. One tool I've found to be invaluable for de-gooing everything is a steam cleaner. Spritz everything down in Dawn Powerwash, let it sit for a minute, then hit it with the steam cleaner. If it doesn't fall off instantly, use a brush attachment to loosen it while steaming it. Mine was around $40 US on ebay, has a 1 liter reservoir and a handy extension wand with some brush attachments for tight spots. All that remains to finish cleaning up is the trans cooler and alternator area before disassembly, so I'm here to see how you got to those hoses. The steam cleaner also works wonders on tree sap when paired with M539 Restoration's legendary "carbon fiber" cloths from Princess Auto or Harbor Freight.

Best video I’ve seen on the transmission part alone.. i have a 2001 740il and need to fix the transmission so this helps out a lot, thanks dude 🙏🏽
  • @MoneyFIC
Great video. Enjoyable watch. Love the car too.
  • @mystacarlo
This video was super comprehensive and amazing, thank you for this. I never knew it had a trans thermostat, i have trans issues so i will definitely change that out.

I had the valve cover gasket done on my ‘01 740i a few years ago. Never had a problem since. Then all of the sudden I’m getting a lot of oil leaking from the underside of the engine about dead center almost. Could be a hose going to that transmission oil cooler. I don’t know yet. 21:57

*edit* i checked out your channel... youre not stranger to these monsters :D nice... a ride that clean would do well to drop the front bumper clip and a deep clean in the engine bay fixing all them lovely gasket leaks theyre so prone to having after 20+ years.... i love the e38... so much so... i got 3 of them... well 2 1/2.... i had a 740 sporty shorty that was murdered flat but threw the timing guides... it sat for 2 years and the body rotted away so i got an e39 540 wagon but the engine was shot so i pulled the drivetrain out of the 740 and dropped it in the wagon... @_@ its a beast with a different trans and the rear gear ratio.... loves to do smokey burnouts.... but then i found another 740 sporty shorty glossy and picked that up.... then i got a bug up my ass about the 750 v12 and found the 740/750 are the same engine bay... and since the e39 shares the engine bay with the 740 and can fit a 2.5L I6....... so i went out and got a 750 il.... so "the plan" is to take the v12 outta the 750 and drop it in the e39 wagon then take the 740 drivetrain out of the wagon and put it in the 750 and let the kid drive it.... wait till you dive into the timing guides... buy the tools to get the job done and quality parts and rebuild the vanos... DIY and youll save probably a good $3-4K... I had to make a special tool to lock the crank... basically a flat plate with holes in it to go around the crank hub and bolt the 8 pulley bolts and then the other end rested against the AC compressor... they call it a jesus bolt for a reason.... broke 2 breaker bars trying to get it off

Are you sure you’re using the correct anti - freeze? I’m pretty sure you should be using the blue stuff and not the green.🇬🇧

Hey bro great video, i just had a quick question. I’m replacing my transmission lines soon. Would it be a good idea to add teflon to the end of the line before bolting them in? Or were u able to install just as is.
  • @defillipo9334
That’s crazy. My 740 il looks almost exactly the same. Same wheels and color. Only difference is mine is pre face lift
  • @timoz06
