Ive witnessed first hand that male cats can have that parental instinct too. I used to foster kittens for a local shelter. My male cat used to be hostile around new kittens when I first bring them home- but later he becomes so loving and protective with them, including grooming them. And then when it's time to go home to the shelter he will go sniffing around the place the kittens slept and find that they're not there, and come to me meowing in panic . ๐ฅฒ I stopped fostering after that, too traumatic for him

I loved how the female was like " honey. These are your kids" the whole time. How she was kind of holding his paw meeting them the whole time.

I love that the little one who is constantly approaching the dad is the one that looks most identical to him :-) So cute!

At first it looked like he was having a hard time believing they were his kittens, then he slowly came to terms with it and was like "Alright, this isn't such a bad thing. I got this...."

You can tell he was the Dad when the Mom cat immediately recognized and greeted him and by how calm he is around them.

We had a lean 24 lb cat I raised from a kitten. One big cat. He had kittens with a female who ran off when the kitten were young but just able to eat solid food. He raised, fed (he would bring home rabbits), played with and protected those kittens. It was amazing to watch how he nurtured them.

So cute how shut his eyes are, he's trying to show the mom and kittens that he doesn't want any trouble even if he might be complaining at first haha.

Such fine felines!! Daddy cat looks like he wants to spend some time with the kids while moma isn't around so that he can teach them all the fun stuff he's not supposed to. When moma is there you can see that he is focused on staying inline so she doesn't jump on his head! Lol!
