Homemade Bandsaw Mill From Old Car Wheels

Published 2017-01-30
Sandra says this video is too specialised and you lot out there won’t like it. (Unless you happen to want to make a bandsaw mill.) But how could anyone NOT be interested in welding and grinding and drilling?? Especially when things go round and round?!

Perhaps she just means there aren’t many horses in this one – if so, she’s right. (Though there is at least one.)

The plan is to use this to make the best of the few trees we need to fell.

Thank you Mike! Thank you, Jerry!

It's fascinating to see something I always considered to be only available fully assembled from a company being built by hand. Bravo

I would like to tell you that I really enjoy your channel. I first became intrested in your videos when watching your bee videos but soon expanded to your other videos. Its a pleasure to enjoy these videos of you and your wife in everyday living. Thank you, Phillip Hall from United States, State of Mississippi. PS My Grandmothers family was from Ireland. Her mothers maiden name was McIntosh and her daddy was McWilliams.

The like is from my dad who suddenly became extremely fascinated whilst passing. Perhaps your new Bandsaw series will attracted different viewers too :D

Good job for us that you didn't listen to Sandra! That welding looks pretty good (well at least the 1st one did) :-) NOW for up & down and back & forth ... can't wait! Well done, Tim!

That looks like some fun!! And very useful too. When I had a little property many years ago, I'd call that type of home-made manufacturing "Recreational Engineering", and it always gave me a big thrill when something worked.

So interesting! Band saw today, Hadron collider tomorrow! Love your 'tools' videos as well as all others that show the fascinating comings and goings of your lovely farm and inhabitants.

That was great, tell Sandra we need more videos from you like this. Thanks for sharing.
  • I love your philosophy, which seems to be 'try it, and if that doesn't work, try something else'  words to live by :)

You're cut out to be a mad scientist, Tim! It's unfortunate, the way the labour marked has turned out for that profession.

Inspiring! My Dad built many pieces of equipment from old cars.

Sandra is wrong where I am concerned. I love your work, your concept, your ingenuity and the lot.
  • Thanks for taking the time to share your ingenious inventions! It's really fun to watch.

its great to see a simple bandsaw mill that most people with a bit of a workshop could make
  • It doesn't matter what you are making, I just tune in to listen to your voice. You could do audio books when the weather is too bad to tinker.
  • Greeting from Canada, i like your humor. You are a very good handy man. keep up the good work. Best regards.
  • I love your design! I can appreciate keeping the mill stationary and moving the log instead!
