    Looks to me like a consequence of letting Corporations regulate themselves. Personally, I think I'd prefer a pro-democracy big tech on the left, rather than this kind of Punch and Judy show. Simply by the political dynamics, big tech is going to be on the losing end until they can inspire some popular left wing politics. Corporations are people, and they can lobby freely. How we differentiate between reality and salesmanship on this point is the difference between living in a democracy or autocracy.
