  • I just love this: "... a happy end. Oh wait we left Louie again... A happy end."
  • @SmashBroD
Also, to add insult to injury, Olimar was originally on vacation when he first crashed into that meteor.

Three really creepy facts about the Plasm Wraith: 1) In its area, the Formidable Oak, every single enemy is an illusion that turns into plasm when defeated, even the harmless butterflies. The fact that it's able to create perfect replicas means it must have encountered real ones at some point. Perhaps it killed every other creature there (intentionally or not), then became so lonely that it filled the Oak with replicas. When Olimar shows up as the first other real creature its encountered, it immediately becomes attached and tries to keep him safe like its his mother, seemingly unaware that it's slowly killing him. 2) In the challenge mode mission to fight the Plasm Wraith, checking the map reveals that there's... something else on the map, located where the top of the Oak would be in the story mode map. This implies that the Plasm Wraith is itself another puppet or illusion created by this other entity that's watching. 3) The pattern on the floor in the arena where you actually fight it is identical to the rock formations surrounding the Smokey Progg's Egg in the first game. No idea what this means.

"Oh, wait. We left Louie behind again... A happy end." Never have words resonated more loudly about how I feel about Louie.
  • I like the fact that instead of abandoning him on earth and assuming he's a "bad guy," they take him back because they legitimately do not know why he did that. That's realistic and I enjoy that.

Louie is one of the most unsettling characters in gaming to me. He’s a literal psychopath willing to murder his friends and steal from others. He never makes any sort of meaningful interaction with anyone, and poor poor Olimar is trapped with him on a mission, sometimes in the same ship as Louie for huge periods of time.

I think the reason why the creature loved pikmin so much is that it's an easy food source for them. Think aphids in the bug world. Easy pickings and they multiply like crazy. It's an easy buffet, a tasty snack. Pikmin are a good source for many creatures and evolved these abilities as well as their need for community to better fight off their predators.

I like to think that the Pikmin view Olimar or any crew member throughout the series as larger 'boss' pikmin with their antennas being similar to their stalks.
  • @TheFatestPat
Louie is that guy who leaves the car to go to the bathroom without telling anyone, and then blames you when you drive off.
  • すげぇめっちゃ面白く解説してるしなおかつしっかり説明しなければいけないところはちゃんとしてるすごいなぁ

"This is Earth long after humanity has gone extinct" Ah. So Pikmin takes place the same time as Splatoon.
  • @Terrakinetic
I never wanted to kill anything in Nintendo more than Louie.
  • @gormauslander
Pikmin 3: olimar gets vored by a parsnip who is a registered offender with over 20 restraining orders
  • 日本人から見ても面白いです!!ストーリー解説してくれてありがとう❤

I love that pikmin 4 has entirely confirmed the "louie assulted his co-workers" thought that was only vauge beforehand

I'd like to point something out: Oxygen is toxic to Koppaians. In Pikmin 3, their mission brought them to Earth to gather fruit and seeds to cultivate on Koppai. The plants they brought back from Earth produce oxygen.

Nintendo's theme is putting deep lore into happy games so yes, I believe that the plasm wraith will appear as a yandere school girl in Pikmin 4, vying for Olimar's affection

Sorry for the long comment. I am a Japanese Pikmin fan. It's a great video and good! I especially like the yellow Pikmin with earphones. I am impressed that you are looking at Amebozu from a Japanese perspective (I am Japanese and didn't think that much about it). I personally thought the spaceship crash was something that was happening because of the pikmin singing, so I was thinking it was based on the legend of the Sirens. But the discussion in the video fits better!
