Fun fact: The person behind Claustrophobic and Autumn Piano is Christian Henson who is the founder of Pianobook and the creator of Labs Soft Piano I am grateful to him for offering such amazing sampled instruments for free EDIT: Winter Felt is made by him as well
  • The whole spitfire labs series is absolutely worth picking up for free

My personal favorite use of Claustrophobic is to narrow it's stereo field and then pair it with a brighter piano at a lower level that I push into a wide stereo field and gently flowing reverb - it ends up having this sense of being extremely close with Claustrophobic piano, but then a spacious brightness that fills the space, which for me leads to a really intimate, contemplative place. It takes a bit of mixing so it isn't obviously two pianos, but I find having most of the reverb tail being on a bright, low volume piano makes Claustrophobic shine all the more!

This is quickly becoming my most favourite music making / sounddesign / sw / hw gear / whatever related to music making channel on YT .. amazing amount of content, amazing quality (not just by content but also technically - appreciate video / sound quality) - extremely appreciated !
  • @lofreeq
I'm here just to say this: wow. Came for the title and leaving the video with a mind blowing creative lesson. Thnk u for such a class.
  • @Bonk_Bonkus
This is really really cool, first list I've seen that consistently lists solid options, as well as no repeats from other videos I've seen
  • I totally agree with you. I've been saying for ages that the best instruments for making music are the ones you have, not the ones you wish you had. I have had folks wonder why I use an MT-32. It's because I have one, and still find it useful. Same with my music room speakers. I use 2 RCF 12's, supplemented by a couple of tweeters - again, because these are what I have.
  • dude, you said the best camera thing and I instantly subscribed your channel. Thank you for this. Starting today.
  • That was a very inspiring video! Those sounds really moved me, and conjured up cinematic imagery and drama that had me feeling breathless. So wonderful to have these composing tools at our fingertips! Thanks for making these videos. I look forward to every one!
  • @birdbonezbeats
Glad I came Across your channel man! You got great, thorough and honest perspectives. That's definitely needed in this industry. Thank you my friend
  • @Squidy666
Oh sweet, was literally just looking for good piano sounds this morning. Thanks!
  • Wow I was looking for a cool piano for a song and these vst are nuts!! Thank you!
  • Not gonna lie. I used to skip over your videos as soon as you said, "Howdy doody, Buckaroonies!" When I finally gave you a chance, I've come to a point where I look forward to coffee with Cameron every Monday, and make sure to try out whatever new instrument, effect or technique you're showing off, by the end of the day. (Continue to) use your powers for good!
  • @kevincourcey813
Beautiful piece with just the Claustrophobic piano. Amazing how you can somehow alter time itself with sparse playing.
  • @PeranMe
I’ve been following you for a while now, and I love your videos, but it was only with this video that I really came to appreciate your playing. Very nice! Clearly I need to download Christian Henson’s pianos so I can start playing like you! :-) Thanks for sharing, you’re a star!
  • @nfinityzhy
Two mins in I subscribed because I just like your energy. And this was before I even received the info I came for. Your a cool dude!
  • @kenzgbr
Nice one Prof. V, loving your work. Christian Henson is one of the great unsung heroes of our profession, I hadn’t heard Claustrophobic Piano but it sounds and plays wonderful(ly).
