I leave a comment about this song every chance I get (lol). I've heard this song seems like everyday since I was 4 years old until my mother passed 8 years later and I never stopped playing it. I still have the original album she bought in 1970. I can vividly remember our house on 35th Street with the living room windows open and this joint blasting so loud I could hear it down the street. I became a DJ later in life (44 years) and I would play this every chance I got. I started performing in lip sync shows and every Mother's Day I would perform this song in memory of my beautiful mother and by the time I finished, my face would be covered in tears with thoughts of my dear mother. I'm bald, would put on my fattest gold chains and black sunglasses and kill it...the whole room would be teary eyed (lol). In my opinion, this is the greatest love song EVER!!! Jerry Butler is a legend but Isaac Hayes gave this song something that the original never had. The pain and soul of Isaac's voice and the orchestration is second to none. I will put this song up against any love song. RIP Mama...RIP Black Moses...thank you both for the memories ❤
