Edit: I main Pokémon Trainer and this has happened to me 3 more times - and 2 of those times were with Squirtle and Ivysaur, meaning all 3 Pokémon in the Pokémon Trainer’s arsenal are affected by this glitch. Additionally it works on any stage.
