Nothing makes me happier than the Ditto Pikachu and Mimikyu being included (as funny as it would’ve been to have Mimikyu lumped in as a “bootleg”) lol

Ash gets serious by turning his hat backwards. Dan gets serious turning his hat forwards.

The reason Pikachu was paired with Poliwhirl at first, I imagine, was because Poliwhirl was one of the pokemon that was also in the running for mascot in the franchise's earliest days (is still kind of was in the Pokemon Adventures manga where Red's starter was a Poliwag instead of the Pikachu!)
  • Poliwhirl was marketed as heck during the first generation of Pokémon, which is likely why that got a mascot costume alongside Pikachu. I think the reason for the mass marketing has something to do with its pre-evolved form, Poliwag, happening to be series creator Satoshi Tajiri's favorite Pokémon.

When a YouTuber can make you smile in the first 30 seconds of the videos, you know it's the best one. Welcome to Disney Dan, my favourite youtuber for explaining Distory in a funny way!
  • @Del129
This was one of Dan's best videos yet!😂 Loved the twin peaks Gameboy reminiscing and Pikachu claustrophobia.
  • The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade wiki is a real rabbit hole. Super detailed. Yes it has it's own wiki.
  • @_BillsMafia_
The mozzarella mob?! Pikachu, Chuck E Cheese, Mickey Mouse, Remy, and Master Splinter 😂
  • As a life-long Pikachu fan, this made me smile. I didn't expect that intro xD
  • @queenie_bee
I'm only 34 seconds into the video and my day is already made!
  • @PurpleWind64
Shout-out to the editor for pointing out the Mimikyu.
  • The image of Pikachu with the School of Rock kids wearing POKEMON COLOSSEUM t-shirts is such a funny and weird mashup of nostalgia. Very fun look back at our chubby boy.
  • I mean I remember the Pikachu costume from that super smash brothers or commercial from the 1990s but I’m still really anxious to find out lost super smash brothers live stream because it uses that Pikachu costume from the commercial and it was filmed in Las Vegas Nevada and it was the first ever lifestream before YouTube even existed it was streamed via real player but is still lost media and it’s probably gone forever but I hope one day it will get resurface only time will tell
  • @XemeraldXD
I would absolutely LOVE to see the outbreak of pikachus one day (or even play a pikachu, who knows!)
  • I remember going to see the first movie, got the Zapdos card, good times. That theater is probably not there anymore but man. Memories. Great video, Dan! Been finishing Violet.
  • @TheFoxPrince1
You should do a costume evolution on Blue from Blue's Clues.
  • 5:13 - Funny thing is, I (and quite a few others) actually do know! Simply put, it's because even though Pikachu is the series mascot, Poliwhirl has been stated to be the favorite Pokemon of none other than Satoshi Tajiri, the very man behind the entire franchise! The only reason they stopped using Poliwhirl as much in the marketing is because more popular Water Types began to surface (no pun intended) and get used instead, particularly Piplup (because who doesn't love a cute little penguin?). Nowadays the only place you're likely to see Poliwhirl featured somewhat prominently is on the boxes of Pokemon gummy snacks, where its shape is used for the blue raspberry flavor gummy.
  • @18:50 Fun fact- That episode is why animes have a warning about sitting too close to the TV
  • I love the 2010 costume the most, it's just the right proportions and looks the most like Pikachu to me. The squishy inflatable newest one is nice too. I've been a Pokémon fan since childhood, so I'm thrilled that you made this! I'd love to see a sequel where you cover the evolution of various other Pokémon costumes, like the starters and Eevee!
