Thanks for the advice Chris, wouldn't know where to start without you!
  • Solid work. While replacing my wiper brakes, I noticed my engine oil was a bit low so I ordered a longer dipstick. Very productive weekend.

I remember helping my grandpa with a repair like this on his old Chrysler. Being built in the 1970s, it had drum brakes on the wipers.
  • Had to rewatch this video since there was not video today…Always replace my blades every April 1st..
  • @tavarish
You don't want to know how much the carbon ceramic wiper brakes on my P1 cost!
  • @vooch496
Keep in mind some older SUVs and trucks will use drums instead of calipers for the rear windshield wipers. Hope we can get a video on that soon!
  • I made the mistake of not using DOT 3.5 blinker fluid when bleeding my wiper breaks and we all know in NJ inspection stations they check for wear and fluid level. Thanks again Chris for keeping me off track!😊 It's not like the old days when you had vacuum wipers when you pressed the gas pedal to the floor the wipers would just stop in the middle of the windshield.
  • honestly just buy regular wiper brakes rather than slotted since they'll most likely last a lot longer and get more bang for your buck
  • @mtbmikex9
As a mechanic I love how this guy puts in the effort to make these so believable.
  • @Ammageddon89
The effort in this is top of the line. Even custom printed cardboard boxes!
  • Since when do wipers have brakes??? :face-blue-wide-eyes: I had to read the comments. Then, I notice someone talking about replacing the headlight blinker fluid and it all made sense. Great video!! :face-fuchsia-wide-eyes:
  • I did this modification to the windshield wipers on my car this morning and I saw a 25 brake horsepower increase on the dyno this afternoon. Great video! Thanks, Chris!!!

One year later, and I’m still returning to this video. This is still the most helpful guide out there.
  • I boosted my wipers with a twin turbo kit for extreme performance. However, with that mod I had to go with very hard to find and VERY expensive drilled, slotted and double vented ceramic rotors to bring the wipers to a stop. Well worth the time and money!
  • Took me a while to locate my brakes, but boy am i glad i found them! They were pretty well worn down! A replacement set is now on order. Thanks for this video!
  • @andyeve8
Pure genius. I just installed a turbo on my washer jets. Works a treat.
  • Rewatching this for 2024 ❤ No worries Chris! We know a lot of cool stuff is coming up!
