Fireworks Firing Systems: Beginner to Advanced

Published 2023-11-19
In this video I share how I leveled up my fireworks shows with an electronic firing system. I'm going to walk you through my take on a few of the best firing systems available today. While there are many options I didn't review, these are the ones that I recommend and some reasons why.

I will talk about manual-fire systems and hacks, plus leveling up with fully automated and more advanced firing system capabilities.

When I made the leap from hand firing to firing system 7~8 years ago, i never considered the cheap Chinese systems as soon as I saw their antennas. I pictured someone in the neighborhood with an old fisher price baby monitor setting off a mortar in my face. Safety concerns and future proofing led me to go with Cobra and I have never regretted it. I shoot 2 shows in the backyard every year now. Started with an 18m and an 18r. I add modules as I can.
  • Great video very clear and concise. We started with the same system and quickly moved over to Cobra!

Several year ago I did a big fireworks show, I didn't have time to get a remote firing system so I have to go with one long fuse and many calculations. It was almost perfect, the timing was perfect, the problem was my grand finish did not fire off, for some reason the individual fuses didn't ignite. With a little video editing I was able to add in the finale. This year I'll be doing a remote igniter to avoid that issue.

How many shows did you run with the Crackle Cube? And what kind of problems did you experience with it? I have been using it with Happiness 4 and 12 cue units, Bilusicon 4 cues AND the DCC24A's ALL in the same show without any issues in scripted and non scripted shows..... And instead of buying the control deck you can buy the Crackle Cube for $50 more.... It is an OUTSTANDING option for the backyard pyro who wants to up there game and use what they have and not break the bank. Personally I would rather have the Crackle Cube range then rely on Bluetooth like the ignite... And so the only 2 options are Cobra and Cobra?

I personally like the ignite system cause I can see it going above and beyond Cobra. If they do away with the color system allow numbers 001-999 with a 72 que module that's a lot of wire. The 36 que mods are good as well if you are doing a small home show. It's all personal preference.

Another solid video! (Liked & subbed!) Your production is solid and your screen presence shows a good level of comfort in front of the camera. Makes me think you have other channels and/or you've done video productions elsewhere. As I said in a previous video, we're both getting started in YT. Keep it up and I feel your subs will continue to grow! Hopefully we'll both get the point where we cross that threshold and they start growing more exponentially! As for the firing systems? I had that first system as well. Used it for one day for a SFX engagement. My unit was COMPLETE GARBAGE and NOT SAFE! First, the main control box wouldn't even turn on unless I had the battery door open! But worse, I was wiring up some ground salutes and when I turned on the module, it popped the ematch! NOT FREAKING COOL!!!! Scared the bajeebus out of me and others in close prox to the salute. I went to return the entire unit and the seller had already removed it from their Amazon store. Fortunately, Amazon gave me a full refund. Other than than lil excursion into "How do these cheap systems work?", I've been 100% Cobra since 2016. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

The first one is known as an analog system.

Crackle Cube is by far the most economical choice! Did you even try it? How is it dependent on manual firing? It has free scripting software. The guy made it out of his own house! Way to put down a new product that is good.
  • This ia a awsome video to explain the Cobra Firing System very easy to follow along with lots of excellent information! Have you been in the Movies? nice work...........
  • @cruz1aviator
That was such an asshole move to diss Crackle not once but came back to twist the knife. (Explains your face.) Steve is a one-man show pretty amazing what he’s achieved enough to be mentioned among the choices.
  • @blueman841
have you heard anything about ignite programming to allow for more than 6 mods anytime?
  • @ChadBixby
Great Video!! Liked and Subscribed! Question: did you say that the ignite modules CAN or CANNOT fire DMX? I need to learn more about DMX as I want lights and flames in my show. Thanks again, and keep the videos coming!
  • @412pyromaxb8
Thanks for the video. I liked the short and sweet version for the comparison but hy voice over and not just talk directly to the camera? Unless im crazy haha. But again thanks for sharing and keep em coming!
