a while ago i did a simpler but more difficult to pull version of this trap, and to pull the trap you dig down at a specific spot and the signs break and make sand the fall

Absolutely gotta love seeing the classic traps work, with the fun addition of dripstone (that's still a "newer" thing in my mind lol, but objectively compared to the age of this type of sand trap). I remember trying to get the original version from before pistons working, where the redstone would somehow make water or lava start flowing (chunk update maybe? Probably wouldn't work with the bug fixes since the) and then break a torch to cause sand to fall.
