Come Tour My $5,200/Month Luxury Apartment I Rent In Brooklyn, NY | Spaces

Published 2023-12-06
Sonia Hendrix, 37, has had a "toxic relationship" with Manhattan. Her rent increased by over $1,000 in 2 years and when she saw the renewal, she nearly fell off of the couch. She knew that she had to move to another place.

Sonia quickly devised a plan to get out of Manhattan and crossed the bridge over to Greenpoint, Brooklyn to find her new apartment. In less than 3 months, she upgraded her living situation by moving to a luxury building with amenities and paying about $100 more than the rental increase at her old apartment.

Sonia gives a tour of her apartment, showcasing each room and the things she's added to the space since moving in June 2023. She had a custom closet built for her in the bedroom and has a small office desk near the kitchen and living room to get work done for a company she founded called Gallery PR in 2017.

Sonia also shares a personal story about dealing with a disease called ulcerative colitis, which causes inflammation and ulcers in your digestive tract. Despite this disease, it doesn't stop her from working on her passion projects and living life to the fullest, which includes having a happy home.

Thank you Fortune for touring my new apartment! I had so much fun doing it. It's a dream living here and I sincerely hope this "Spaces" clip inspires fellow long-haul New Yorkers. While it would've been great to show the stunning four floors of amenities, pools, and hot tub that come with the unit, I needed to adhere to the building's media policy. However, I can confidently say that after a decade spent living in Manhattan, this was undoubtedly the best move to make for the extra $$, and I'm having a blast decorating it to completion. I also want to say how remarkable it is that single women executives like myself have to slow down in our mid to late 30's to put intentionality and focus into establishing a home and nurturing relationships in order to setup the next stage of our lives. It's not easy to slow down, but if we don't, then the things that matter most will pass us by. Know thyself and do you. Sometimes a step backward is the only way to take giant leaps forward in the right direction.

The editing made it confusing on minute 8:15. What did she mean by spending 30000 dollars being single? On what exactly?
  • Yay, let’s pay 5,200 a month for something we will never own….. great thinking.

Had to stop watching. Cutting every 1 second is so irritating.
