The U.S. Army's ATACMS, recognized as the pinnacle of modern precision strike artillery, has long been a stalwart force. Yet, in the ever-evolving landscape of military technology, what proves effective today may not suffice tomorrow. Recognizing this, the Army is forging ahead with the development of a cutting-edge long-range weapon—the Precision Strike Missile, or PrSM—an innovation poised to succeed the aging ATACMS.
Recent demonstrations of the ATACMS's ability on the Ukrainian battlefield, where it played a pivotal role in a successful strike against Russia's helicopter fleet, mark a significant achievement. Yet, this success prompts a forward-looking perspective. The baton is poised to be passed, bringing with it the anticipation of even greater capabilities and strategic advantages in the ever-shifting dynamics of modern warfare. This development makes us wonder; what advantages does the new Precision Strike missile offer?

Nice closing argument. PRSM might accelerate provisioning Ukraine with ATACMS.

A 300+ mile range will be a benefit in the Pacific Theater.

"But ATACMS was already perfect!" "I know. But we can always make it MORE perfect!"

US already had 1800 Expired ATACMS and several thousand still active.

When 1990’s technology can destroy Russian 2024 “Air defence” 🤔

One of the most amazing things about PRsM is it's range. Publicly it's 500km. I've read it's closer to 750km and a HIMARS can carry twice as many. The Marines have adopted an island hopping strategy where they airlift long range fire like this on a C-130 pretty much anywhere. Also, PRsM can hit ships.

The Taiwan Strait just got a little more safe from a Chinese invasion.

Ukraine wont acquire PrSM because the US won't make it available to them. This missile is in early stage of production and is required by US units.

“Gonna hurt me some orcs with this baby!” 💥

PrSM is going to win for sure! 🤘
  • When they say the PRSM has 650 miles range that's when carrying a 'Suit-Case' / 2KT tactical nuke.

Send some of these to Ukraine for more testing and surprise the Russian.

Great that you mention the Australian involvement in the project. A few months ago, The press here in Australia classified the range of the future missile at 480 km, but Australia will probably need an extended-range version. 620 miles is almost 1000 Km, that is the version that Australia wants.

One would think, there will finally be GMLRS and PrSM air-launched version for F-15EX....
