Great job. I was born in Lone Pine and lived in Independence and Bishop until High School. Can say I've fished all over the Owens Valley, but not once did I ever fish the sand traps. I will tell you, take a small box with some hooks and split shot, maybe a small gold Acme Phoebe spoon, a fly swatter and walk up stream from the sand traps. Use the fly swatter to get you some grasshoppers that are everywhere in summer over there. Rig with a single hook and small split shot, cast across the ditch onto the grass/brush on the other side, then pull off the grass into the water and hang on. Usually, soon as the hopper hits the water there is a explosive take. Brings back a lot of memories.
  • Good job Dad. I remember taking my daughters many times when they were that age!

The sand traps are surprisingly nice looking! They did a good job making them look natural

Great to see you fishing and having fun with your daughter! My son and I will probably stop there and another one or two sand traps and the Bishop Canal, next week. Happy Father's Day.
