Next you should visit Greenland and Antarctica. After that the Marianna Trench. Finally, finish it with a trip to the moon and Mars

Thanks a lot for including Mexico on the list! 🇲🇽 🇲🇽 🇲🇽 There are indeed places to avoid, like anywhere else in the world, but if you travel with someone local who knows where to go, how to get there, and the best things to do, you will have an extraordinary experience. (That's what we do, sorry for the add). Just a clarification, the archaeological site of Teotihuacan is not part of the Mayan culture and not even of the Aztec one. It is older; it thrived until 750 CE, and the people that built it was, no surprise, the Teotihuacans. Later, the Aztecs named it Teotihuacan, meaning the birthplace of the gods. Apologies if someone already wrote this somewhere (there are too many comments!).

I am literally crying tears of joy dear Drew. As a Persian/ Iranian, it is a great honour to be ranked #2 out of 179 countries! Literally amazing! I've always wished more people would come to Iran and discover this ancient gem that literally shaped the world starting 3000 years ago with the Achaemenids, then the Parthians, then the Sassanids, and since the Islamic golden age Persia was the biggest contributor to arts, poetry, architecture, design, science, mathematics and so much more... Thank you Drew I love you from your Iranian brother 😊❤️
  • @MojdeMirzaee
Many thanks Drew for mentioning Iran as your second favorite country! I'm from Iran. I've visited 15 cities here and have wonderful memories of all these cities. Countries that I hope get the chance to visit are Australia, Austria, France, Belgium and United kingdom

Thank you for your lovely words for Iran. I agree Philippines is one of the best places in the world, lived there for few years and still miss it ❤
  • This awesome! So nice to hear your thoughts about all these places! Philippines is SUPER high on my list!!!
  • The portion of Afghanistan made me suddenly start crying involuntarily. Seeing those clips and hearing your words made me wish how much I had the opportunity to experience that country the way you did. I spent a couple years cumulatively in Afghanistan as a Marine and then as a contractor, but my experiences were vastly different. Despite being there in a different capacity, one of the things I remember most is how gorgeous that country is, and how varying the terrain is depending on where you are. Sunrises in the mountains and valleys in the Nangarhar & Kunar provinces will always stay with me. I would have loved to see where the Buddha’s stood, but the country was surrounded by history everywhere. I remember coming to land our helicopter at a small FOB south of Kabul and having a guy point to an old structure on top of a small hill and yelling “f*cking Alexander the Great, dude.” I remember taking a picture of the old fort from a distance and thinking how neat it would be to go walk through there and think about the history of that spot. The most kind and deserving people ever. One of my happiest memories is of when we gave a pack full of random books to a local villager in our area. The tears of joy and him wiping them away and asking us to take his picture with us and the books. He was learning English and hoped to come to the U.S. one day with his family. His only way of practicing English was with troops and old pages from magazines and other reading stuff he had collected over time. Giving him that bag of random books was like a pathway to his dream in that moment. It’s interesting now, looking back at all the people you met in what feels like an entirely separate life, and thinking where they’re all at now. How many got out, how many are hiding, how many are dead. All displaced. That said, those are some of the toughest people I’ve ever met so I have hope. Inshallah, right? Thank you for the memories, and I couldn’t be happier that I’ve stumbled across your page.
  • I loved Afghanistan, which I visited in 1975. Herat was like stepping back 1000 years, all mud brick buildings, even my hotel, almost no cars, just horse carts and electricity only about four hours per day. I remember falling asleep to the sound of horses pulling their carts. The people were fantastic. They were the most proud, independent people I've ever met and no foreign power can ever invade them successfully. The Russians and Americans were fools to try. I hope this country regains it's freedom soon. I rank it as the most interesting country I've been to, I been to over 110. Can't wait to go back. Turkey, Mexico and the Philippines are also great places. Other countries I loved include Greece, Brazil, Nepal, India, and many more.

Your tale on Philippines is very tempting, food is original and beaches all around, nice culture
  • You have touched a lot of people with your choices. I read some of the comments and they cried when you mentioned their countries. More power to you, Drew and mabuhay ka.
  • @juliamillerr

I'm Namibian and so glad to see our country on your list. We are indeed a beautiful and peaceful nation. The Dutch like language you referred to is called Afrikaans. We would be happy to have you in Namibia again Drew.
