This video contains 4 absolutely massive explosions using a variety of explosive equipment such as shock tube, det cord, shaped charges and avalanchers.
It was performed safely under the supervision of explosives experts. Additionally, Dan has training as an EOD in the British Army.

Dan is the goofy one until it comes to explosives, then he very clearly knows what he’s talking about
  • I’m a marine combat engineer and I use this video constantly to show my juniors what the Munroe effect actually does. As well as explosive theory in general. Much love guys. Thank you

These guys are filling that Mythbusters shaped hole in my heart

I’m an EOD technician listening to this guy talk, not knowing he specialized in explosives in the past, thinking he did really good research for this video 😂🤘🏼

I have seen this episode countless times and it always fascinates me, not for the explosions, or the cool slow mo, obviously I love those, but it's Dan's firsthand knowledge of explosives, and listening to him explain things is always a treat.

I really love when Dan gives things a personal impression. Like the 6:14 for the shaped charge, or 17:48 for the water in front of the charge.
  • @helena8999
it's pretty cool that around 10:38 you can see that the cloud of smoke/fire left by the shape charge is a blue-ish green color from the copper electrons dropping down from a higher energy level

Me: the sound won’t be that loud The sound: nether portal
  • @Gyppor
Watching this 4 years after publication, it still is some of the best slow motion of an explosion anywhere on Youtube. Incredible.

Gav: the dynamic range is good, holding the highlights even at a high ISO Dan: I like how it's flamey and rubblely at the same time.
  • My favourite part of this video is where we get to see that Dan is just as skilled in his area of expertise (A.T.O) as Gav is in his (Slo mo cameras)
  • @gossamer999
Media doesn''t show that enough in film and tv, that an explosion absolutely shreds and annihilates clothing.
  • Fun fact: The shape charge fires at around 10,000 meters per second, as Dan said, and the I.S.S. goes at about 7,200 meters per second. The charge is faster than something orbiting around Earth.
  • @fastsigns4825
That shape charge was one of the coolest things I've ever seen
