I did not know his story, yet I was rooting for him because of the rarity of finding a Filipino doing gymnastics so well. The outcome from this Olympiads had proven without any doubt that perseverance and strong spirit pay off. Plus that he is blessed with a physique that is perfectly adequate for gymnastics. Being away at so early age, alone and immersed in a foreign culture has certainly forged his character. Them is when you can find your real self. He learned a lot because he is being on the brink of quitting, but quit quitting! Perhaps just being a step short of a medal this time is the best motivation to go further. He is very young and, as long as he keeps his physical and mental integrity, he has a long way to go. 頑張ってカロイ!

Imagine having to live in a foreign country away from your family, learning a foreign language from zero while studying fulltime, all of that on top of a rigorous athletic training. That's a lot for any teen. Hats off to this guy and his coach.
  • Thank you Japan for training him. He just won the 2019 SEA Games Gold for Individual Men's All Around Gymnastics. All Love from the Philippines.

I knew since Doha, Qatar that this guy will bring more honor to our country, I've never been so right. So thankful to coach Mune for being his guide, strength and inspiration. Now Caloy is flying high and has a terrific shot in the Olympics at a very young age. I'm beyond thrilled, as a gymnastics aficionado, to dream of having the Philippines stand on the world stage coming true is astonishing, Caloy has done an extraordinary feat. Truly admirable and inspiring, let's just hope he stays focused and keeps the fire burning might🙏☝️✌🏻🤟🥰😍❤🇵🇭

  • watching CARLOS"GOLD"YULO with all his struggles made me a less worthy person.why am i whinning so much about all the little stuff when he has to went away from home and broke a leg pursuing his dream didnt..truly truthful to say;success is the rarest gem.
  • Thank you to the Japanese coach for being patience and believing in him, and to the Japanese government for providing facilities for our athlete.

I am now only watching this video after watching Carlos' success at the 2019 SEA Games, and I must say...watching what this kid had to sacrifice in order to keep up with his intensive training in Japan is crazy..but mad props to him. His perseverance totally pays off after having to move to a foreign country away from home and family, learn their language and go to school, all happening while training to be the best. That is all both physically & mentally draining, especially for his age. But seeing him fight & strive through it is both inspirational & beautiful. Thank you for creating & posting this documentary of him. Go Caloy!!! Love from a fellow Pinoy brother. <3

  • Medyo nakikilala na sya rito kac tinelevise ung competition last time sa Germany where he got gold medal. A filipino boy w/ a Japanese coach caught the attention of d media. Im sure next yr sa Tokyo Olympic , Caloy and coach Mune will get more attention here. Isnt amazing? Both Japanese and filipinos cheering for this two?
