Working into the night to create the all-new Atlanta Motor Speedway

Published 2021-09-29
When the sun goes down, the work doesn't stop to create that all-new Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The revamped AMS will feature 28-degree banked corners for the first time when NASCAR returns in 2022, creating a new, one-of-a-kind challenge for racers and an exhilarating show for fans.

The NASCAR Cup Series visits Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on March 20, 2022, and the Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart on July 10, 2022.

Taking advantage of the great weather we've had here in Atlanta the past couple weeks.

Hope the racing doesn't suck (I fear it will on all 1.5 mile tracks) because I totally love watching these videos.

There are laser guided machines to grind off irregularities to within 1/8" of where you want the surface of the pavement it to be. I wonder if they used those.

    Narrower turns + 28° banking + 190 mph = a bunch of junked metal.
