Many people forget to line up the torque converter with the trans oil pump before reinstalling the transmission. This causes the transmission pump prongs to shear. This also makes it hard to reinstall the transmission since there will be a gap between the bellhousing and the engine. Few other things to do before reinstalling your automatic transmission:
Check alignment dowels, replace seals, replace filter and pan gasket, flush out transmission cooler lines, clear out any mounting bolt threads, replace engine and transmission mounts, replace rear main seal, clean out starter dowels/alignment pins, driveshaft center support bearing and flex joint. Hope this quick tip video helps out!

When you are working with automatic transmissions there is no 'speed run" , you have to take your time, look and look some more, check everything twice, definitely not a job for folks in a hurry, mistakes like these will kill your wallet and make you wanna put your fist thru a wall, take your time, excellent video man,you got a subscribe.

I dont remember who, but someone taught me, best to put tc in vertically with trans standing up. And spin it 3-4 times by hands til all seat stages are verified. And seat trans surface, before ever trying to bolt tc to plate. Made my install so much easier. And felt right.

You're the Man! đź‘Ź i'm building up the courage to change my torque converter but was unsure of how to refill transmission and torque converter so when i first start it my transmission doesn't eat itself, i thought i would need one of those power flush machines garages use but now i know filling torque converter before installing will keep things running smoothly.

Great video. Had a decently tricky time finding a trustworthy pro mentioning additional parts that deserve attention while one is in there. Finally relieved my mind that I'm not missing anything dire.
  • Usually I'm a VAG Group enthusiast, but now I have a friend with a E60 BMW who wants to change his torque converter and he wants me to help him. I found you videos the most helpful regarding this subject. Thaks.

Good call on engine mounts. Doing the torque converter on my 09 jk and checked the mounts as soon as it was mentioned, they ain’t surviving this job and I have so many wobble factors to eliminate I don’t need that one. Thank you sir
  • Great info almost messed up mine due to the same error first time for me. There was a gap with the bellhousing and I had. A lot of pressure thought I'd screwed the pump but I got by. Wish I watched this video first.

My trans on my 04 ford ec went out, and thinking of doing this for the first time. Thanks for the lessons
  • Just put a straight edge across the front and measure the gap before you remove and after you place. For my truck the TC was super heavy and it was really tight and hard to tell it was in but an easy solution was to measure the gap also knew it wasn't good when I couldn't rotate the flex plate.
