Aw man...amazing to see how original the old gal is! This is more like archeology than tank replacement! No better way to end a day of wrenching than taking a ride in an old Ford! Well done! Not a stinker! Just another day of wrenching and working on old Henery Steel! Go RAC Garage, keep moving forward!

The bolt with the spring lets the frame flex without twisting the tank and damaging it. Have you looked inside the trunk for a removeable panel over the gas tank gas line and gas gauge connection?
  • Travis, hey those bolts--- I have to say it. Just put some Hawk Tuah on that thing!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I liked the pickup with fenders better
  • Man you had me shaking cutting on that tank, Glad it went well. Love the content!
  • A friend and his dad tumbled his '30 A coupe a Saturday afternoon for 4 hours with washed small stones inside. Each holding their end, alternating high and low, clockwise then counterclockwise. An easier method would be to ratchet strap it to a cement mixer barrel.
  • just a thought, why not cut out a small portion of the old tank where the filler neck attached and weld it into the new tank in the same spot. you could then retain the look of the original filler neck.
  • I would say the second hole on top was for fuel level sending unit. Did you think of cutting off the extra bracket below the float switch, that might allow it to go in the hole?
  • Bummer about the filler neck, I know TanksInc has a steel tank with a built in filler neck like the original style tank (not a bolt on) but it's $400, and they do appear to offer a bolt-on filler neck without a threaded cap (part PBE) but they have one picture on their website so I would call them to make sure it's not threaded...
  • I don't recommend grinding on a fuel tank. That's is extremely dangerous.
