Myself and the Guru, Andy Maher talk about the bad times, and let's face it, there's been a lot this last couple of decades!

  • Couldn't agree more with the first two, both end games of 2022 were the most painful losses. Got our vengeance on Melbourne in 2023 though in that semi to reach an expected prelim, so the agony before the ecstasy

The worst loss I have attended was at the ground was Round 20, 2018, GWS vs Carlton. I watched it with a GWS supporter and stayed to the bitter end. 105 point loss. GWS just decimated in the midfield. They even had so many injuries they had 16 on the field and still dominated. Humiliating.

2002. Losing by 100+ points to the Magpies was a good shout.

2000 qualifying final against Melbourne was an absolute killer

getting belted by GWS a few years ago when they only had 16 on the field was awful.

I’m a Eagles nuffy but I love Maher, there is no AFL fan and on-air guy who has been a better sport in history because of him putting up with the ball-busting from Mick Molloy for comedy 😂, he handles it like a champ. He has very thick skin. The only other example I can think of is when Sam Newman milked the hell out of the Garry Lyon stretcher joke… Hats off to Andy Maher for doing the losses thing 👍, that would have been rough
  • I Agree with losses number 1 & 3 they hurt especially round 22, 2022

In terms of sympathy there are 2 times I remember when I felt the most in life for other clubs. The most pain I felt for culturally was what the AFL put the Bombers players through during that BS supplement saga (I think they were all innocent, but that’s another story), that was criminal how they were treated And that home and away season for Blue baggers in 2022 lol… I don’t recall ever feeling more sympathy then I did for Blues fans then after that last round. That was the most cruel thing I have even seen. I messaged my 2 blues mates to find out if they were ok and offered condolences 😂.
  • Stop sooking, never look back, the recent loss against the pies was grounded in this sort of defeatism, pitifully sad.
