Recording yourself on video everyday is phenomenal advice. I tried it everyday for a week now and I can see a huge improvement not only in my speaking abilities but in my confidence when talking to people. I think this is the main reason why YouTubers become so sociable and confident...its because they record themselves almost everyday and learn from their mistakes. Thanks for the video Conor.

12 years later, it's still a phenomenal advice

“Only by speaking, do you turn into a speaker.” This nails the gist of the secret to mastery. Thank you so much!

10,000 hours of practice can bring you every where.

Hey, I watched this video to improve my public speaking 7 years ago for an extempore public speaking competition. Thanks to this I won not just 1 but multiple public speaking competitions, really appreciate this and ‘How to Start a speech”. Thank you!
  • Sunday, 28.04.2024 I will stick to this advise and make a consistent practice until I become the greatest speaker I could be.

I think the "pottery" example was so on point. Making the goal about weight vs quality, enabled the first group to work without the pressure of "perfection". That's such a great trick we can all benefit from.

I'm a Toastmasters member for the last 8 years and this is among the best advice I've ever come across about public speaking.
  • @alloutcoach
Great points Conor! I share with my students and in the leadership speeches I have given this idea that you're good at whatever you have done for 10,000 hours that I had learned from an MIT course I had taken! I love your style and depth, glad to subscribe to your channel! Very valuable!!!

Away from presentation evaluation, you are such a great teacher sir. This was my first time watching one of your videos, sure, they are great and very useful. watching your videos makes a person not only have spoken but ,have taught conversation skills.
  • Recording yourself and practicing on a daily basis are amazing ways to improve your English.
  • @ismaharry
I've just realized, that i was subconsciously getting better at speaking, while learning, studying English. Yeah, in addition, I'm so passionately curious, and inquisitive to listen to people, to identify who they are, and etc( end of thinking capacity 😂). Passion is contagious. You just have to be doing things you compell!
  • @JackiePrime
A powerful talk that is applicable to more than just improving speaking skills.
  • @FikretErdeniz
The pottery class example is the best one I've ever heard about how to get the best results through a learning process. Thank you for sharing.
