  • We drove the Sky Valley and Pinnacle Mtn Roads in the Du Pont State Forest and the Balsam Mtn Rd in the Great Smokey Mtn National Park this past weekend. Our trip on the Sky Valley and Pinnacle Mtn Roads was in the opposite direction as shown in this YouTube video. The trip is absolutely fantastic! The Pinnacle Road definitely requires 4x4 with at least rear locking differentials and hill descent control in my opinion. There are quite a few short, really tough, off-road sections as options. I can see why the driver in this YouTube video got stuck in one of the many mudholes. This YouTube video makes the road look short and easy, it is not!. And Sky Valley Road has lots of trailheads to explore. I highly recommend the trip! Thank you for your video. It inspired me to go see for myself!

I love your videos dude, hope you continue to make them. Also your use of slow mo to show how gnarly stuff is is smart.

I have never done offroading and probably never will, but I love your videos! They're entertaining, educational and exciting to watch.

Hey! These are great videos! Please keep them coming

Oh and there's another entrance that many dont know about hopefully they haven't paved it over yet it's over on the tuxedo/zarconia side off cabin creek

I was near there not long before you made this video and eyed those roads on the map but didn't have the time to get there with my Outback. One day I'll get there, though, because my son lives in upstate South Carolina. One place you should check out is Horsepasture Road and Jumping Off Rock overlooking Lake Jocassee just south of the NC SC border. It's a gravel road off of US 178, not very challenging, but the view is great and at certain times of the year there are other, more challenging roads open there. Thanks for the ride!

I am just starting to explore overlanding and love your channel (recent subscriber). I’m based out of Greensboro and am building an overlanding Honda Element believe it or not. Are there campsites on Pinnacle Mountain or Sky Valley Roads? We are thinking of heading up to Dupont soon to camp and mountain bike. This is a great channel and resource for NC! Thanks!
  • I just found your channel..... I dig it!.. I have driven a lot of these roads.... I live in Louisville ky but maybe just maybe we might someday run into each other both filming out on the trail.... until then keep making videos!

Really cool to google my back yard and find this! Went up there two days ago in my new 01 TJ. Next time you’re out this way hit me up I’ll show you some spots!

Y'all need to hit Hurricane creek rd. off of I-40 going towards fines creek.
  • @ronniewebb2777
Where did you go? Started watching years ago then you disappeared

Hey man should see how it used to be before by the way don't know if it's still there but there's a hole I call the roney hole becareful it looks like pure mud hole but there is a edged rock that will break your axle
  • Pinnacle mtn road is pretty tame, I did this on my road bike with slick 25mm road tires no less! I just had a couple mud holes to walk around.
  • It was hard to find, not a long or difficult road, but a beautiful place. It was not worth the time and effort to get to.
  • @WolfOverland
i have that same winch 12k version on my tundra. I like it. only had to use it one time. that road looks tame- have you done hurricane creek or charlies creek or tray mountain? all those are fun and more challenging!
