I’ll never forget exactly where I was when I first heard this. How could anyone??!!?? I just finished up my worst week painting homes on Philadelphias main line, cribs I’ll never own. I was so depleted and I was stuck gridlockin in traffic I just lit up a cigarette and turned the radio up and they were snappin. They brought it back a dozen times. Shit leveled my energy out like I could move a mountain. Timeless

Perfect beats, perfect lyrics, perfect song. Come back, Jay. We miss you

Used to ride around Mass listening when I was young, back when drugs, partying and jail were a heavy part of my life. Here I am years later in TX with 4 kids, 2 businesses, no drugs or alcohol in years getting ready to take my older 2 daughters to see Lupe in Atl next week. Feeling nostalgic

Just Blaze blew it out of the f*cking water with this beat, one of the all time great hiphop songs. I will always get goosebumps when I hear Jay say "When I was sleeping train".
  • My father passed in 2020 and this was always one of his favorite songs. He's the reason I'm a dedicated Hip Hop head ✊🏿

Best Shazam I ever found. Thanks to the dude in the Mercedes on Mission Gorge last year!

"They call me Jay Electronica—fuck that Call me Jay Elec-Hanukkah, Jay Elec-yarmulke Jay Elect-Ramadan, Muhammad as-salaam-alaikum Rasoul Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala through your monitor" GOD DAYUM

The sample is insane!! Only matched by incredible lyrics… a masterpiece
  • Randomly found this 10 years ago and it still holds its relevance in hip hop history 💨👊🏻✊🏽

I remember when I first heard this, how astounded I was. Felt like the reincarnation of Nas and Rakim, but from the south. I played this hundreds of times, no cap. Years have passed and it STILL bangs. The man is a poet par excellence (look it up).

14 years later and the shit still bang! How could you not love Hip Hop…
  • You’re either build or destroy. Real words spoken in’23 and beyond.
  • Me and my older brother Ermias used to always blast this & Exhibit A in the whip. Electronica never dissatisfies.
  • This song is way overlooked. If Kendrick was the one spitting it everybody would be shitting their pants. Fucking masterpiece.
