1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner/5VZFE Crossover pipe removal

Publicado 2023-08-16
In this video we replace the broken and seized exhaust studs on the crossover piper of my 97 4runner. The removal of the pipe was the toughest part of the job and although tough, a little patience and transmission movement made all the difference. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments, thank you and good luck wrenching!

  • A while back I remember someone on the forums chimed in a cat-back vs straight pipe thread and pointed out the crossover pipe is smaller diameter than the rest of the exhaust, and trying to free it up beyond that point isn't going to help much. After that I always wondered why people didn't just yank it out and replace it with a larger one... Now I see why, and also why almost nobody makes them
  • I’m about to do this same repair on a ‘98 but I’m replacing the whole exhaust system. Any tips on getting the crossover pipe nuts off the manifolds and out the engine bay and the new one in?
