In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

  • People are not addicted to drugs, alcohol...People are addicted to escaping reality.
  • "You have a normal brain -- there's one left in the US and we use it a lot in these experiments..." is absolutely hilarious. She has a spectacularly sharp and cerebral sense of humor. Love it.

This woman is fantastic. I listened to her for thirty seconds, and am assimilating her as a role model into my life outlook
  • @jinxblaze
i watch this twice a week every week, this talk is so much better than 99% ted talks that talk about improving personality through impossible ways. This is as real as it gets.
  • she could be explaining why the teletubbies are the biggest influence on society today and i would still be watching intently

I have been following Dr. Peeke since about 2006. I love her because she actually cares about women's health and she lives the lifestyle she advocates. I have seen her live and have met her in person (autographing my book). She's a caring person and she resonates with me. This Tedx Talk doesn't cover her research on menopause, but I have followed her advice since I was 35 or 36 and I'm all the more healthy for it. Her big a-ha for us in this talk is that we can change our genetics. I've changed mine.

She's absolutely brilliant! And has a killing sense of humor too! Win win! 😊
  • This is a very, very good TED talk. I love her quirky humor. Her content is stellar. We are addicted to everything!

Reading comments ... many wouldn't like her for a mom but i think that she'd make a hell of an aunt that always has your back. :)
  • @PenelopeRyder
I have had no processed sugar since 1st June and feel great the changes in my being and emotional state has been on the up.
  • This video literally made me stop and cry. And then rewatch and cry some more.

Having a soda and chips while watching this made it hit home that much harder,,, and the hit went to the gut. The lovely thing is knowing I can change it. Best part of this tedtalk is that I can change anything that makes me feel helpless into something that makes me feel empowered. Thanks.

I had a teacher in highschool who would make us stand for about 5mins every day. We would do a few stretches and then just talk to each other. Sometimes she did it more than once if the class seemed sleepier or anxious or what not
  • You can’t just put your energy into athletics and just break addictive thinking if your stuck in trauma. I study Epigenetics and this style of teaching it is drastically different. Hey who knows it seems to inspire most people in the chat and that is a great thing.
