Last time we asked how long it would take Max Verstappen's RB16 to lap everything out there. This time we ask: how well does Lando Norris' McLaren MC35 fare against almost every era of classic F1 car? Once again, we take to Assetto Corsa to find out.

It’d be cool to see a “restomod” of an early ‘00s V10 F1 car with modern aero, tires, DRS e.t.c to see how insane it’d be
  • @papawoody9597
The two best sounds from F1's past that I'll mourn the loss of probably forever - The manic shriek of a V10, and Kimi on the radio.
  • @gregrowe1168
Kimi's commentary never disappoints. "Leave me alone, I know what to do" Lol.
  • @arjun._.bbC6
Ferrari on hards. Yep. They predicted the future.
  • Honestly, imagine what power they could get out of a V10 these days, it would be insane.
  • @greenboir1383
The little insert of Kimi saying“Just leave me alone I know what I’m doing” got me😂
  • 14:38 "Now imagine if those cars weren't on grooved slicks made intentionally to slow them down'. - Yep, absolutely. And you'd find if they were on slicks, Montoya's pre-qualifying time at Monza 2004 would still stand as the fastest lap instead of Hamilton in his Hybrid Mercedes on slicks.

Imagine the W11 with a V10. the insane aero and the insane engines.
  • @AlexMitoMedia
All the Kimi Moments! Gonna miss him in that mega quick McLaren from 2005. 900bhp and so much lighter than 2021 machines. Great video man I love your voice and excitement!
  • @NoahBClark15
Great video Ermin, as always, but Monza was a poor track of choice. I think it is generally well known that the modern cars top end speed is not its strong suit. I would have gone more a more mixed up track like Spa, with decent straight, but still plenty of places for modern cars to show their true strengths as well.
  • I think the main reason the V10 cars are faster on the straights is because... since the hybrid cars gained a huge Downforce gain in 2017, it caused ALOT of drag, and drag decreases top speed, however the V10s ran on a lower downforce setup, therefore less drag, so they had a higher top speed

The late 1990's to early 2000's were the best era after 1980's turbos. No ABS, no traction control, beryllium engine parts, 900-1000hp from 3litre v10, 19-20 000rpm, no max rev limit in the rules.
  • @nuggy4051
Those V10's were peak F1, I grew up watching them and they are absolute rockets that have not been matched by the later gens
  • @JReaLBiz86
As a sound engineer, I LOVE the little added touch with the audio filter on your voice for the in-car bits. Well played, HamSandwich. Well played.
  • @mariusbrabus
I'm a bit bias on this, since I grew up with the V12 era F1 cars, so those sound a lot better to me than the V10s. Also, the added Kimi antics on the video had me laughing hard! Great video!
  • @CptFlasheart
The reason theyre so fast on the straights besides the epic 19000rpm V10's is they are less wide with thinner tyres, makes a massive difference in drag.
  • @kaleandoscope
The cars these days have grown so much bigger, they old 2000s car were so powerful and nimble. And the V10... I get goosebumps listening to such symphony!
  • @johntechwriter
A uniquely entertaining comparison, thanks for going to the trouble. I'm sure dozens of people have already asked, but I would like to see a comparison race between a few of the top 5 F1 cars and the same number of fastest-ever LeMans prototypes on this fantastic Monza track.
