To defend my title as 'World's Greatest' I set out to beat some of gaming's hardest challenges, and what better way to start than with a Nuzlocke of Pokémon SoulSilver?

This is a bit of a departure from my normal uploads, so if you like this kind of content consider subscribing! There will be more scripted videos like it in the future!

Brooo this was so good, would be dope to see more content like this from you Obligatory let's go void (also hi pchal probs)
  • @niaxeno
Chat calling you a cheater for not using species clause is cringe. Play however you want, it's a self-imposed challenge run. Great run! You weren't scared to sack your pokemon when you needed to and was generally able to recognize your mistakes, especially in the early game. If you do another one, I encourage you to take the candy pill, it makes downtime so much more bearable imo (though it can sometimes make Johto in particular awkward with level caps in the mid game).

"You're such a cheeser? No I'm a winner." That line goes so hard

7:19 just wanted to mention that even if you couldn't nickname the prize pokemon when you got it, that same city also has the Name Rater at the top left, which allows you to change the nickname of any pokemon you own, so you could instantly go there and give the prize a proper nickname
  • @RoseWovenScythe
Btw, most species clause rules are just there so you're not FORCED to catch a duplicate of a pokemon. You can always choose to catch it anyways
  • @philclip23
Naming a Bellsprout Dabuz is HILARIOUS. I will be doing that from now on until the end of time Edit: NOOOO YOU KILLED DABUZ ALMOST IMMEDIATELY
  • @ford950
Species Clause lets you re-roll encounters of the same species, but you can choose to catch multiple of the same type if you want. ChuckNasty is chilling

This video is lit, narration and editing are crispy and the gaming is of course, legendary
  • @FreyCheqama
Let's go, VoiD! And as for those that were lost along the way, I'm sorry. And good job.
  • @conradsuits6135
It got to the point when I know exactly when a “lets go void” was coming
  • @michael6636d6
do more nuzlockes please, this run was legendary😭
  • WelZy's defeat at the hands of a Team Rocket Grunt was the saddest moment watching live. Void literally was talking about how good WelZy was a few minutes before it happened. o7 Welzy Great video Void, keep it up!

Quick note on the species clause thing? Chat was ALSO wrong about how it's implemented. Species clause means no duplicates of pokemon you've owned*, specifically. Originally, this was to keep people from ending up with five zubats and three ratata with two pidgeys. It's to let you "redo" first encounters that aren't unique. BUT VOID NEVER HAD A GYARADOS. So like... that's not even relevant! And also, species clause is not a *limitation*. It's an opt-in rule for letting people have *variety*. You have the CHOICE to skip a first encounter with a 'mon you've already owned, is all. It's an *exception that's meant to be like "shiny clause," to keep people from "missing out." Just as shiny clause is to keep you from needing to kill off shinies, dupes clause (the more descriptive name for 'species clause') is meant to be a way for people to not feel like they're cheated out of getting a "new" encounter. If y'all are gonna be cringe rules lawyers, at least know the actual purpose for those rules, and why they exist to begin with! But anyways, super cool run! Always rad to see the learning experience for different games. Let's go, Void.

You could've still got a game corner pokemon. The name rater is in Goldenrod, so you can immediately name it. If you ever try to improve on runs or revisit this in the future, biggest tips I can give are start at night (with proper encounter routing, you can get all of Hoothoot, Ratatta, Geodude, Zubat, Bellsprout, and Gastly guaranteed without having to risk Pidgey or Sentret. And Hoothoot is much better than Pidgey just because of the possibility of Insomnia allowing it to ignore Hypnosis RNG against Morty) and delay Union Cave until a Friday when you have Surf so you can get Lapras. Shell Armor Lapras is the only real counter to Clair's Sniper Kingdra, but Water Absorb still helps a ton in playing around her Kingdra if you don't get Shell Armor, but even other than Claire, it's incredibly strong. Thunderbolt access lets it excell against several water types while walling most of them and it naturally does good against Pryce, Brock, Blaine, and Lance. Super consistent overall

LMAO not the dabuz bellsprout 👁👄👁
  • It was super hype to see you play your first nuzlocke. You played pretty well and i look forward to you playing more nuzlockes. If you do, i encourage you to use level caps, and to "take the rare candy pill" as Pokemon challenges put it
  • @xian3005
Nice run Void! I feel like even though you struggled a bunch, you made a pretty good choice for a game and rules that was challenging for you and made you lose Pokémon, but was still possible for you to complete! There are definitely some games that could’ve made you experience so much worse (Ultra Sun and Moon is infamously ridiculous) That corndog fake out was messed up lol. Love all the Project Moon music dispersed through out too! Super underrated games.
  • @4546Bean
Can’t wait to not watch Jan react to this
  • I recommend using the name rater in your next run. If no one in chat told you, it's an npc (usually in a house in a town) that let's you change the nickname of your pokemon so long as they have a matching trainer ID. So the only way you can't rename is from an in game trades. Allows you to diversify your roster or keep a pokemon if you accidentally spam through the give nickname option upon catching something. Regardless, congrats on your first win Mr. World's Best

Made some really good use of switches to circumvent the drawbacks of the 'no battle items' rule, great thinking on the fly, man. Seeing you learn pivot-switching in real time was pretty sick haha. And YEAHH IMO Clair is SO much more brutal than Whitney is, relative to the part of the game when you fight each of them. Kingdra basically having no weaknesses is SO tough to get around.
