"An eye for an eye, a leg for a leg " hit hard
  • Hayloft was my childhood favourite song and it's nice to see the second one bringing the same feeling

This song (and it's predecessor) are absolute bops, and what I like about them is that they have a story. In fact, I actually managed to uncover the full story. The story starts with two young lovers in a hayloft. The lyrics in the original say that the lovers "aren't sleeping" and even have "their legs tied up in knots". This implies that they are doing something dirty. The girl's dad becomes furious when he notices them doing this, and prepares to shoot them. The lyrics "My daddy's got a gun, you better run" is the girl realizing that her dad saw them, and warning her partner to run. Pop shoots the lovers then. But as we know in Hayloft II, the girl survived. Maybe she played dead. She is heartbroken at this tragedy, as evidenced by the lyrics "A shot in the heart doesn't make it unbreak". This also could imply that she literally got shot in the heart and survived. Because of this, the daughter gets lost in drugs and punks on the streets, probably to cope with the loss. She plans to kill Pop with a gun as revenge for the murder of her lover. She finds her father at the crack shack, where he starts singing an old song with the lyrics "My baby's got a gun, my baby's got a gun, my baby's got a gun, I better run." He probably doesn't know that his daughter is trying to kill him, but instead because he is at the crack shack he is probably tripping on substances. The lyrics "She's not a bad kid, but she had to do it" mean that the girl felt like she had to kill her father, that there was no other choice. If she let him live, he might kill other innocent people. She had to, so she killed Pop. And I think that's all of it!

I like how "my babys got a gun" can be interpreted both from the boyfriends and fathers perspective

They really said: "If Hayloft was so good, why don't they release Hayloft II?" And they did, and it was as great as the original
