Rescue Mission! Avoiding Catastrophe Thanks to CROW & WtW - Captiva Osprey Cam (5/13)

The crews at Window to Wildlife and Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) were remarkably quick to address a potential catastrophe at the nest this morning! Eagle-eyed folks noticed fishing line in the nest, and the babies were right in the middle of it.

Never fear - CROW is here! In the form of "Thing" from the Addams Family, a phantom hand reached around the nest, removing and checking each chick before finding the remainder of the line in the nest and removing that, too. Edie stayed right there for the whole ordeal, obviously looking quite confused and perhaps a bit frantic - but all is well and everything went flawlessly.

WELL DONE TEAM!!!!! Thank you for your prompt and efficient action here!

WOW!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Thank you to the people at CROW for coming to the definite rescue of the Young Ospreys before something so deadly could have happened. I give cudโ€™s to you for your quick reaction too. I wish that they or someone in the Wildlife Service would do that for the Eagles nest for Eaglets too cause then there wouldnโ€™t be no choking or deaths either (that is if either one or both parents werenโ€™t there). God bless those that do truly care about the wildlife and have a great day too. Sue M. Clearwater,Florida ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐ŸปโŒโญ•๏ธ

Glad folks are watching out for things like this and people are taking action. I believe a little help is necessary sometimes.

Thank you for posting this video. Thank you everyone involved: the other viewers like me, the mods, Connor and the brave lady from CROW! I am the eagle-eye folk and I am so proud of myself๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Iโ€™m so glad they rescued the babies but I can understand the parent being frantic, I was frantic and harrowed myself watching. It was a lot of noises, the women chatting, the noise of the crank, I guess the ladder. My nerves were shattered and to the point I wanted the video to end. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Not complaining just whew! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Thank you for this video! I love Window to Wildlife! Thumbs up! Too bad about Angel the leucistic red-tailed hawk this year with no babies. Connor, the channel owner, said they didn't find any evidence or behaviors that would make them think there was another nest she could be using.
  • Okay after watching these live cams with fish line and hook problems I'm thinking biodegradable fishing line and hooks, that dissolve after a period of time. This fish line stuff is ridiculous.
