Agree with everything you've said! Loved this❤
  • @KierTheScrivener
There is a huge deconstruction of that in the Kiss Quotient because pretty much our main girl gets overwhelmed and goes rigid whenever she's in sexual situations and they have conversation where he's like 'no, if you froze the guy should have stopped. That's not okay that that happened to you. You are not bad at sex. You just had people who didn't listen to you and cared that you were not okay and couldn't consent to what was happening.' So they really work on hey, if I do this is it okay. And slowly moving through things and stepping back when she gets overwhelmed. It has its flaws but the conversation on enthuastic consent is great. I am really interested in the last one and grief and I like the main guy who is the cousin of our first love interest but it's more spicy then I like my romance.
  • Queen of doing makeup while also talking eloquently about books 👑 That sea witch palette is DIVINE. I can definitely endorse not starting Name of the Wind! For one, it's not ever going to get a conclusion and for another, Kvothe would drive you up the wall. I started rereading it so I could read one of the novellas because a friend really loves it, and it put me in a huge slump. Ditto for Lolita. Stomach churning book regardless of his intentions, made it really hard to read after I finished it a few years back. Such a bummer about AM Howell! On paper she seems perfect for you 😥 "And they probably like dresses, the monsters" the way I spat my drink omg Fannon Anakin has, like, so eclipsed the very little canon we get from him that I can't really fathom what version of him we're supposed to be getting in books like that. Queen's Hope will have to be a skip for me too. Love this, love the look (it's so pretty! Very siren-core) and love to hear you rant about books always!!
  • the Martian is so blah, it really solidified for me the fact that I don’t need to need to read anything else by him ever.
  • the eyeshadow is very mermaid-y! i was really shocked by your stance on the hunger games (it is god tier YA dystopian for me & holds up really well) but otherwise i mostly agree with these thoughts
  • @heabooktubes
I completely agree. The Kiss Quotient definitely pushes back against that. But that book made me cry so I vote you should skip anyways. 😂
  • the makeup look turned out beautiful 🥰🥰 I love when you share unpopular opinions because we always go from 100% on the same page to me being appalled by the words coming out of your mouth lmao
  • @KierTheScrivener
Yes I always just use eyeshadow for my brows because my hair is way too dark
  • @N_Garamond
first off GORGEOUS makeup look as per USUAL. and I figured Ms. Hobb would get at least a mention lmao. love hearing your thoughts. Lolita I read a long time ago and found interesting but as I get older I think i would find it much much more disturbing and difficult to read. we've talked a bout this before I believe but I really just struggle with romance in general. I think I have read literally two straight up romances in the past few years that I can think of. tried and DNFed a bunch. some of which I feel like were objectively not bad books but I could not get into, including Book Lovers. if there's a romantic element to a plot I really actually DO enjoy it a lot, but as soon as it's the main focus of the book, I cannot. even Book Lovers which people say did have other elements going on, I just found it not interesting enough to get into. some friends have suggested I get wackier in my romance picks and try supernatural or stuff like that. but like you said, sex scenes I am picky about as well and I can't buy in if I don't feel like they're done well.
  • @TheBookSanctum
Totally with you on Ali Hazlewood and Taylor Jenkins Read! As for a book I am actively not going to read - Fourth Wing, I have heard so many awful things about it, including the racist overtones and the ableism, and I'm just not even going to go there 😂
  • @annalisaely4298
I love the look! I also think Anakin is badly written as far as his villain arc. I have fun watching him interact with Asoka in The Clone Wars, but everything else is just irritating.
  • @sweeteliz
I also have no interest in TJR. I did read Daisy Jones & the Six when it was released and really disliked it! I will not read another. Fun tag!
  • okay but… would i like the jennifer lynn barnes books?…… you know exactly why I’m asking 🤭
  • I HATE Tess of the D'Urbevilles with my entire being, but I do think I'll give Thomas Hardy one more chance at some point - several people have suggested that I might like Far From the Madding Crowd The Martian is definitely not a Cara book! I don't think you would get on with the main character, apart from anything else. It blows my mind how much of those kidlit sexual assault allegations have just been completely forgotten already?! I still see so many people talking about so many of the authors who were named in that MeToo moment, as if it never happened Yup, you know I'm 100% with you on Lore Olympus! Yes I ahve no interest in ever reading Ali Hazelwood either! I just know I would be so infuriated with her FMCs, who all sound ing completely incompetent even though they're supposed to be super genius women in STEM!?
  • do you mean to tell me…. you’ve literally never read the hunger games and I never knew this about you? you don’t know my ULTIMATE BOOK BOYFRIEND PEETA????? I need some time to cope 😵‍💫
  • @KierTheScrivener
Yes the infantilization and sexualizatiom in Lore Olympus 🥺
