For 14 years, Nokia was the king of telecom. That may be a surprise to you, considering their market share is now a mere fraction of what it used to be.
In this video, we'll explore how the Finnish tech giant grew from a conglomerate that once made paper and rubber products to inventing disruptive tech like the 1G/2G cellular network (which made SMS text messaging possible!).

This just shows how running a business in an age where technology is developing at a rapid pace requires constant innovation.

Nokia biggest down fall was staying with Symbian os for to long then choosing Microsoft instead of android

5:22 Damn! the memories <3

Nokia could be very successful today if it gone with android os but the wrong dicision of Stephen Elop, going with Microsoft made them fail badly..

You can't tell me their strategy teams didn't see multi-touch on the horizon. just like Kodak, they chose to underestimate the level of threat it posed. Great video.

As someone who once upon a time worked at Bell Labs I'd be very interested in seeing more on the last 10 years or so of Nokia. Lucent "Merged" with Alcatel to create Alcatel-Lucent and then with Nokia to create .... Nokia, they must have done something right.

Nokia is the Kodak of mobile phones. Kodak didn't move up well towards digital cameras and nokia felt down when android phones started booming. I miss them so much i remember the battery could go 6-7 days without charging.

Didn't really discuss the downfall of the company. IIRC there was an internal power struggle between Symbian OS and MeeGo OS developers within the company. So instead of working together to achieve their goals there was an unhealthy competition within the company and ultimately nothing fruitful came out of it.

I have now watched all your videos in this Business Casual Series.

Nokia aint dead yet, in fact, I use a Nokia smartphone...

I thought they were going to mention when they got bought out by Microsoft and the Nokia windows phones became a thing. That was also a failure by most standards.

The Nokia 2100 definitely did not have Snake facepalm that came on the 5110. I have a collection of Nokia phones at home with some 60 models and I know the devices very well.

Nokia has made quite a grand comeback in Europe and India over the past two years, with HMD behind the wheel. However, they are far from what the company once was, especially since they practically pulled out of the American and Chinese markets.
