WATCH: An Honest & Sensible Conversation about Global Energy | Scott Tinker

Published 2023-11-08
This is a talk that everyone has to watch. In the real world, we have to make real trade-offs between climate security, energy poverty, and energy security. Energy is necessary for lifting much of the world out of poverty, however, climate concerns are also real considerations. We need to start a constructive, and honest conversation about these trade-offs.

Dr Scott Tinker is the director of the Bureau of Economic Geology, the State Geologist of Texas, professor at The University of Texas at Austin, Chairman of the Switch Energy Alliance, and CEO of Tinker Energy Associates.

"Watch what they do, not what they say". Words to live by.

I only wish more people would listen to talks like this one - and specifically this one. There need not be any emotional tie to this or any other so-called controversial topics. How many people will say “I feel like…” and how many say “I think that…” Last but not least, take the Thomas Sowell approach: There are no solutions, only tradeoffs. So we must ask ourselves these three questions. 1. At what cost? 2. Compared to what? 3. What data do we have to support?

This was rather depressing but unbelievably eye-opening. I love talks like this that can turn your whole perspective on a subject upside down without demonizing anyone in the process. These are the types of honest discussions that should be driving policies. Thank you!

So refreshing to see brave people talking about facts as they are. No cosmethics, no PC BS, just pure facts in your face. This is so rare in the western world nowadays. Good job!

Brilliant… I wish this was on the news every day… I wish our leaders wouldn’t lie to us!

After hearing all that WEF nonsense - eat bugs - own nothing - magically be happy - be a QR code - be shut out of economy on a whim - be chipped - be under global communism - be vaccinated non stop etc.... this is brilliant, common sense, inclusive, hopeful, and inspiring - something humanity can get behind. God bless ARC.

I heard about a solar farm in Nebraska being completely destroyed by a hailstorm, leaving a toxic mess. A guy in the comments said he was actually on that committee to decide whether or not to install them in the first place, and the first thing he said was "Well, what about hailstorms?" The response he got was "Who said anything about hailstorms?" Realizing the 'quality' of individuals he was dealing with, he noped the heck out and wanted nothing to do with it. Did I mention the solar farm was built on land that had fertile soil that could have been used for crops, but now is completely ruined?

A clear and concise presentation. This should be presented at the WEF. They need educating.
  • @mrssmithh
Excellent presentation that is clear, engaging and entertaining. His statement reminded me of something Thomas Sowell said, “There are not solutions. Only trade offs”.
  • @samdemic3373
This presentation should be shown in all colleges, institutions and schools.
  • @ChilliRap
The true art of science, never let a good story get in the way of the facts, because the facts tells the truth and a good story only plays with emotions. Scott's presentation uses the scientific facts to drive thinking emotions. So well presented.

This is the most refreshing discussion about the climate I've seen in many many years.
  • @4Urlv
This should be a Class at every level of school, to bring light and common sense to all. Great lecture ARC.
  • @Antaragni2012
As a geologist myself I really appreciated this presentation! More geoscientists in debates please!
  • @paulhurley635
This commentary should be a must in main stream Education, and I think that our political establishment should take this class as well.
  • @GiovanniSestili
One of the most instructive videos about energy I've seen on YT, ever. It should be shown to schools and universities, worldwide, to bring back rationality on the energy discourse. Thank you Dr Tinker!
  • @rick_amsterdam
I can't help but feel envy for how well spoken and eloquent this speech is. Wow! Super well spoken and truly insightful info without fluff. 👏👏👏

Thank you ARC. I'm really glad I watch True North with Andrew Laughton because that is how I found out about ARC. I really admire Jordan Peterson as well. What a great lecture Mr. Scott Tinker. It's so nice to see that there are still good people in this world who care for each other. God bless like minded people and God bless ARC.
  • @akaJustMo
when he talked about science being a religion, he got my attention 100%. I've been saying that for years. Amazing video! Thank you!

Honest and sensible .... my grandfather told me that anybody who claims these qualities in one sentence should be treated with great caution ..... he was right .
