These are the best veggie burgers we've made. There's no getting around the fact that veggie burgers take longer to make than regular hamburgers, but these vegetable-packed burgers are well worth it (trust me). The steps are easy, so stick with me. You can do this!

I use a food processor to make veggie burgers and highly recommend that you use one, too. If you only have a blender, you can use it to chop the veggies and other ingredients, but you will need to scrape the sides down a few more times (the food processor really is the better tool for this recipe).

Vegan/egg-free tips: Use 2 flax eggs instead of the 2 eggs called for in the recipe. (Readers have commented that chia eggs work, as well. We have not tried this, yet.) To make 2 flax eggs, whisk 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal with 6 tablespoons water. Set the mixture aside for 5 to 10 minutes and then use in the recipe below.

that looked good .. I think I might roast the veggies before puree them .. what say you. good idea ??

I tried these. I would say that the couple was going more for texture and ability to flip than flavor. Because the ingredients were all dried out, the taste was also very bland. Very dry. Added double spices and still didn't have the flavor I was looking for. Going to work on flavor retaining in my next batch. Good marks for holding together, but it's a bit like trying to eat ground up cardboard.

My mom made these and all of us (vegetarians and non-vegetarians) loved them! I had a go at it too, and the only issue I ran into was I blended it a bit too long and they didn't have as nice of a texture. Wonderful flavour and not as hard as it looks. Thanks for this delicious recipe!

I'd never have thought of roasting the veggies, great tip, thanks. They look delish!

Thank you so much for the delicious recipe!! Definitely worth a try! I used mung beans, red lentils and chickpeas as I didn't have kidney beans and still tasted great.

Looks great! My subs - quinoa for rice, garbanzo for black beans and Bob's Red Mill Egg Replacer for the eggs.
  • I consider myself a bean/veggie burger fanatic. I made your recipe exactly how it was provided and I must say that your recipe is the best I've had in terms of taste. firmness. and healthy content. I now have 30 of your "perfect veggie burgers" in my freezer. Awesome!

This looks great! Cannot wait to try! Thanks for including "no egg" alternative as I am Vegan :)
  • When I was a teenage hippie back in the 60's, I had a burger similar to this and I've been dreaming of it ever since. None of the bean burgers of today have hit the spot. Can't wait to make this!

I tried them and absolutely love them. For spices I used chipotle, garlic, onion, turmeric salt, pepper and curry.

Looks delicious, I'd like to use this recipe with a curry spice added to make falafel!
  • I've tried this recently and I am switching to veggie instead of meat what a big differents between the real meat and veggie i love it, it's delicious.
  • Best burger recipe ever! Have tried others and they have ended up in the bin. This was however amazing. Doubled up on the spices and used apple cider vinegar, still delicious. A bit soft in the middle, so will probably bake or make them smaller next time. Well done you. 🎊

For the full Homemade Veggie Burger Recipe with ingredient amounts and instructions, please visit our recipe page on Inspired Taste: www.inspiredtaste.net/36554/veggie-burger-recipe/ If you don't eat eggs/are vegan, you can leave the eggs out. The burgers won’t be quite as firm in the middle and might crumble a little more when flipping in the pan, but the flavor will still be great. We’ve also got a recipe test planned using flax or chia as a substitute for the eggs. We’ll keep everyone updated on that one. You can see all of our tips in the recipe on Inspired Taste.
