Ampac are an Australian manufacturer of fire detection and alarm equipment. They're the ones make the Zonesense conventional range of panels (such as the NZ1, NZ100, NZ400 and NZ3200), and Loopsense and Firefinder intelligent addressable range of panels. And as for New Zealand, we have our very own local manufacturer in Lower Hutt called Pertronic, and we also have Bensan Distribution in Auckland who offer Protec products in NZ, however Bensan make their own BT1's and BT5's. Tyco have a manufacturing plant in Christchurch, which is where Notifier and Vigilant panels are assembled with exported components from overseas.
  • Mercifully Ampac has now started offering the European-style Apollo MCP, which is WAY better than these. sadly only offering them on Addressable systems though.
  • If I were you, I'd contact AMPAC and send this video to them. It could be that you've just got a dodgy one, but maybe it is a design flaw. This is clearly a safety issue. That said, I was recently chatting to a guy from "Alliance Fire & Security", and he says that a lot of people refer to Ampac as "Amcrap", and their systems are apparantly not popular with engineers. Best manufacturers in my opinion are Pertronic and Notifier.
