I'm going to give this recipe a shot. When I was in the Air Force I worked a lot of night shifts. I used to get carne guisada tacos for breakfast at a taqueria outside the gate at Lackland AFB in San Antonio when I got off of work. There was another place that had carne guisada in a burrito that was really good. Later on, I live in Utah and can't find any tex-mex worth a damn.

The neighbors must love the smells coming out of the back yard!
  • Thanks, brother. I grew up in South Texas and that is the real deal. I like in tacos with fresh flour tortillas.
  • Makes some great breakfast tacos! Our south Texas places always have a lot more flour for thicker gravy. I kinda like both styles.
  • Watching your videos from Alaska. They Valley is my home, Harlingen TX. Watching your videos makes me feel at home. Keep it up !!

My mom and her family are from Texas, I remember my Gandmother always crushing her cumino and garlic in her mojcajete to make this. It was so delicious. Miss you Grandma Trini❤️🕊️

My bf is from AZ and has never heard or had guisada, I’m making him this on Friday, I invited all the family and friends to come by and have some! I’m a home cook and it’ll be my first time making guisada!
  • I first had carne guisada in a small town in South Texas back in the early 90's. Living in North Texas, I've searched high and low since and never had the same experience as I had in that small town. Wish I could remember the name of the town. I am so going to make this. You made this a simple and easy recipe and I can't wait to make this.

WOW, that looks amazing... I'm Hawaiian, raised in the islands so our foods are a bit different, but I'm always looking to expand my family's dinner options and this looks like a winner. This is gonna take my game to the next level. ALOHA, a hui hou my friend, thank you for sharing, this will be Sunday's dinner this week for sure...

I"m so glad I found your channel! I'm binge watching lots of episodes today. My wife and I grew up in South Texas and now live in North Texas, but brought recipes with us. Pan de campo is a traditional side dish to carne guisada in our house too! We probably make it every couple of weeks.
  • Chuck is such an underappreciated cut. My German great grandmother swore by it for meatloaf, and it's the only beef I will use in my meatloaf, and for burgers. I can NOT WAIT to try it in your carne guisada. Great stuff man!
  • @morenteria2988
Love how he always mentions his momma. God bless all the momma’s around the world. Love you momma! Arnie, do you happen to have a recipe for guisado for burritos?
  • @miker8527
Ok. This man knows what he is doing. My Dutch great grandmother. Yes Dutch. She spoke Portuguese and my so did my Spaniard great grandfather. She would use the cumino seeds with garlic cloves and grind them in the molcajete. This was also the way she added flavor to Spanish rice and paella.
  • Hello Arnie. I really enjoy watching your videos. I’m also from the Rio Grande Valley. I was born in San Juan and grew up in Donna. Richard S. Norwood Jr.
