Do not attempt to bend the 'fins' or the edges of the stem, they are brittle and do not stretch. I cracked mine and almost completely broke the stem when I thought the fins would bend. But I did correctly after that careless mistake. Imagine the stem as an upright triangle, don't bend it right away. Press carefully until it flattens a bit, then you can fold the flat part.
