I survived the Kent State shootings. Why use force against college protests?

Decades later, he sees parallels between the anti-war protests of the 1960s and ‘70s and today's college demonstrations, noting disturbing violence against protesters then and now.

    The Vietnam era protests led to the end of combat operations in Vietnam, lowered the voting age to 18 in 1971, and ended the draft in 1973.
