Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by SkyBet. On this week’s special episode we are delighted to be joined by Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney.

Alongside Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jill Scott, Rooney opens the show revealing that he wants to remain in football management despite an approach to enter the boxing ring.

The all-time Manchester United top goal scorer talks about his managerial career so far, most recently at Birmingham City, and what he’s learnt from his spells in the dugout across England and America.

With five Premier League titles, a Champions League, FA Cup, Club World Cup and countless individual awards to his name, Rooney enjoyed a glorious career at Old Trafford where he established himself as one of the all-time great footballers.

The 38-year-old chats about his success, the infamous transfer request and how his time faired at the club after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement where he was reunited with his former Everton boss David Moyes before Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho took over.

Finally, Rooney delves into his childhood and gives his thoughts on the current Manchester United team.

What's your favourite Rooney goal of all time? 🤔
  • @mhuzaimiwanrosli
This episode shows how caring Keano actually is. Every time Rooney's reply is a bit on the negative, (ie loss of confidence, downplaying himself) Keano would always reply with words of support. Keane's a legend.

I can tell Rooney is an introverted person by nature but on the pitch he was very extroverted and aggressive. He was a massive talent and if you didn't see him in his peak you missed out.
  • @shri081
That Rooney assist at DC united where he sprinted back, won the ball, sprinted forward and leant into a perfect cross for a late winner said I all I ever needed to know about Wazza,it was his career in a nutshell.

    "it's not old school it's good school" now that's a quote 🔥
  • @gazman6536
Love how Roy always puts a positive spin on the guests low points! Always builds people up

Keano not having valentines day is the most keano thing ever..😂
  • @el.flannel
It's beautiful how Roy after all these years still got that captain's mentality of supporting and motivating people he played with. This is what the current squad is missing, a true leader.
  • LFC fan here, remember watching Wayne Rooney in the pre match at Anfield for United. He was pinging half volleys to two coaches from the half way line to the corner flag, it was like watching a FIFA advert, he never missed, chest, half volley, ping, chest, half volley ping, he is the greatest footballer England has produced.
  • Ian Wright should've been here for this one. Talk and admiration between strikers would've been great
  • The most underappreciated Rooney feature was his playmaking skills. That assist for Van Persie’s volley is criminally underrated. What a player he was. I loved watching him play. Form, no form, goals and assists or drought - he was always giving 100% on the pitch. If he was playing as the nine all the time, he would have scored more than Shearer. Sometimes I feel sorry for him. He thoroughly deserved to have that spot.

"You're up and running Wayne" I can't stress how important that was to Wayne coming from Roy.
  • @jessevanrooyen98
I love Keane giving Gary his jacket 😂❤ a true captain TO THIS DAY.
  • @steveomcbigarms
Loved the smirk on Keanos face when Romney said he had a few problems with the manager
  • two favorite Rooney moments were assists ... one not even for United. First, the overhead lob assist to Persie's volley. Just the most precise moment of football I've seen. Perfection from both. Then second, playing in the US. Rooney chases down a ball and player at the half way line in the last minute of the game, just busting a lung. Wins the ball, lobs the pass in from the halfway line. Headed in. Goal. Wins the game. Camera pans back to Rooney coughing up a lung back at halfway. The man just never quit. Huge fan.

We need Cantona on the show!
  • @mick6729
Never forget his United debut on tv when the commentator says after his first goal “Wayne Rooney scores for Manchester United, and it won’t be the last time you’ll hear that”. How right he was.
  • These 'episodes' are just getting better and better..............the chemistry between the hosts is amazing. And Roy is just pure class
