Jimmy and the Crows to my ears were amazing. Would love to see them live

Two great tastes that taste great together. Like peanut butter and chocolate. One of my favorite concert experiences was seeing the Black Crowes. They put on a hell of a show.

I really liked The Black Crowes. I saw them as openers for ZZ Top, and nobody sat down for over three hours. Also saw Page and the Crowes. Excellent show, with a well thought out set list that balanced their past(s) very well. Terrific live album came out of it also.

25:03 The Eddie Harsch mention made me smile. He was a pal, and I loved his other band BULLDOG and was lucky to see him play a lot in Detroit (where I grew up) . Fantastic work on this, really enjoyed it...and all your work.

If Jimmy's interviews are to be believed, he let the Black Crowes pick the songs they wanted to do. He said he was surprised at most of their choices. I think Jimmy did some of his best live playing (since the early 70's at least) with the Black Crowes. I was always hoping he would do an album of new material with Chris Robinson on vocals

Two of my all time favourite bands..i saw TBC in 92 and they were awesome..but the Robinson brother's make that saying never meet your heroes more than true....and the players they've gone through must mean something....to blow off JP ...the arrogance of it think about it...mind blowing considering where TBC were at this stage in their career 😮

love this album so full of energy and those three guitars..wow!!!
  • I was absolutely obsessed with this album for many years. Played it sooo many times. I aleays wished for a n audio and video edition of the full set list and maybe even some songs played in 2000 as well.
  • @markravitz1684
JCM nailed it in his assessment of Chris Robinson and his vocals
  • @1FeistyKitty
Great work - this feels like taking a college class -- but the one you want to be there...

One of the worst days of my life- A friend calls me saying he had 2 tickets for the Crowes and Page at the Joint, a club in the Hard Rock hotel in Vegas! This places holds like 300 people or something! An hour plane ride later and I'm landing thinking I'm going to see Jimmy Page from just a few feet away playing Zeppelin and sounding as good as he did in 1970-71, when my friend meets me at the gate to inform me the show was canceled!!!! Something about Jimmy had hurt his back!! Flash forward over 20 years later and I read in Steve Gorman's book about the Black Crowes just what exactly had happened and brother I about flipped out!! A lost opportunity of my lifetime that still stings all these years later.

Amorica has some incredible material. Can't believe it didn't sell more.
  • @Powderfinger07
I agree, the Physical Graffiti numbers were the best part. I thought Ten Years Gone was a real highlight. I had tickets for an Indianapolis gig until Jimmy hurt his back right after watching them on Leno perform The Wanton Song. Was really bummed out. Thanks for another well-produced documentary!
  • JCM HOW AMAZING "ARE" YOU ? ....thank you man keep on keeping on.
  • @familydogg1234
I was so mad when the live at greek" was available ONLY thru Internet when I wasn't on it! Then made available in stores which I bought. Thanx for this. Today your documentary available on my phone!!! You read the book on The Black Crowe- Hard To Handle"? They were Super Hot in 1990
  • dude you do the perfect intersecting of pop culture and the story you are presenting. Seeing the old commercials and TV show highlights really takes me back to that time.
  • @paulhoughton5431
Thank you Jose, such a good episode. I love this collaboration, play the cd a fair bit. Jimmys final throw of the dice other than the O2 and a few walk ons. As others have said, I’m sure if this had come to Europe there would have been plenty of interest. Steve Gorman’s drumming certainly complements the Zeppelin vogue. I think Jimmy had had back problems for a while. He was surviving on pain killers throughout their tour. The Crows shot themselves in the foot not working with him. You mentioned Steve Marriott, who I met a few weeks before his death. He played a bar local to me, in front of about 80 people. He gravelly vocals, came from chain smoking but would have been perfect for Page. Steve felt Zeppelin copied Humble Pie, who were quite big in the States not so much in Britain. He lived in the next village to my parents, Steeple Bumpstead, my Mum rang me when he died from smoke inhalation…from smoking in bed. Terrible waste. Great series JCM
