thanks for the stock footage of a port, very helpful
-
Thank you for this. Now I can decimate my casual playing friends

I always go for the monopolization strategy. I like it because it creates a system where other players depend on you for that one resource, because they know you have a lot of it, and they can just trade whatever they don't want for the one that you have. That means you can essentially ask for any resource that you want

Thanks for the tips. I'm out for revenge this weekend. Everytime my family plays, I'm public enemy number 1 😂
-
YOP actually has a better trade value than ports. ports can give you 2:1 but YOP gives 3:2 (1.5:1)

one of best tips is to block wheat and stone as much as possible because they are needed to create cities - cities are worth 2 points

I think players worry far too much about losing cards to the robber. If you try and stay under 8 cards all the time, I often find you are frittering them away on stuff that doesn't really help you win. The cards you get don't always help you buy what you need to advance in the game, so you often need to save them up. I have a buddy who often has 20 cards in his hand, sometimes even more. Occasionally he will flame out because of a badly timed 7, but he also wins far more than his fair share of games, because he has the cards to buy the right stuff at the right time. I typically budget for losing cards to the robber twice per game. More than that and I've either been unlucky or played badly. Less than that and I've either been lucky or played well.

I have two older games and the 5-6 player expanse that have all separate tiles. including ports and water.

My mom is in the top 200 players on the planet for online catan. I still have the family winning streak. I find lying is a great tool as well as not focusing on the longest road or the most probable number because I still get the same chances if I have a 5 and 12 on wheat.
-
i heard you should look at YOP as the best port deal in the game. I'm never unhappy with a YOP however i do think it falls off later in the game :)
-
Did you know your settlements are too close to each other? In the rules they say 2 road spaces from each settlement.
-
I’ve never actually played a game of catan but want to have elite strategies for the off chance someone ever suggests playing
-
I call the robber, The Government. It takes half your stuff and prevents production.
-
@4:50 There are two ways to get 11. 5+6 and 6+5. There is only one way to get 12, though.
-
This is the second Catan video I've watched telling us to place our initial settlements to get every resource. 🙄
-
I have a question about trading, can only the active player initiate trades with others? can others initiate a trade with the active player as well?
-
It’s 4:35 AM and I’m strategizing my game tomorrow… I blame the booze but 🤷🏼♂️
-
4:52 He says "there is one way to roll a two (2)....or an eleven (11)" which is not correct. Eleven (11) has better odds than Two (2) as there are more than Two ways to roll an Eleven (11).

what version of the game is this?
