  • NES Open is a great one. I've always loved golf games for some reason. You need to make videos of you playing these games!!!
  • I could never beat Tyson either. We bought a little Nintendo plug in system will a bunch of the old titles loaded on it so I got to play Techmo Bowl and MT's Punch Out with my kids and having them enjoy those old titles with me was an a ton of fun. A favorite unlicensed sports game that I loved was a hockey game called Blades of Steel. It was so much fun and for it's time it was the best hockey game you could find. Another NES game I played a ton was Bases Loaded 3. It was one of the first games that let you play a season mode which was 150 or so games. Each player had their own biometrics chart that they would show you that was to try to simulate streaks and slumps which seemed so advanced in the early 90s. Now the incredible dorky thing was that the players had a stat line to see what a players skills were so it would show average, homers, RBIs and such but it was like a previous season so it never updated. This big old nerd was playing 150 game regular season schedules and tracking EVERY freaking stat for EVERY PLAYER on his team in a spiral notebook. So I was playing the game and tracking the outcome of every at bat plus stolen bases, errors, who scored so I could track all the stats that were on the back of the baseball card. So I would play a 3 game series logging all this down in my notebook and then I would compile and update their running statistics every three games! When games started to compile stats in the years to come it was like a dream come true for me! LOL
  • I'm glad they are bringing back NCAA football back! I played the hell out of Techmo football for the NES, ESPN football was a good title to play other than Madden. It's like the Madden games just keep copying themselves. NFL blitz was a fun one to play too!

Awesome games. As far as sports games for NES, I remember playing a baseball game where the teams were robots. I think it was called Base Wars. I really loved Mutant League Football for Sega Genesis. My grail games for NES would be Wizards and Warriors and the sequel Iron Sword.
  • Sounds like that baseball game was way ahead of it's time. Modern sports games can definitely be lackluster year to year. They should just do a roster update every year and just release a new game every 2-3 years. Punch Out was my thing. Spent so many hours on that and to this day still never beat Tyson. 😆
