  • This video has surpassed the 0-bit computing limit on my non-existent brain.
  • 0 - spawn point 12.5M - far lands 32M - ghost lands (lol where’s the ghost) 2.147B - 32 bit integer limit 9.223Quin - 64 bit integer limit 1e308 - the highest number mojang can understand ??? - the true end of minecraft

In the video, I derped with one clip. When I showed off being teleported 9 quintillion blocks down, I was actually 900 quadrillion down. However, the result is still the same. Nothing actually happens at the 64 bit integer limit on the y axis, positive or negative.
  • Wait, it kicks you out because of an ‘Illegal position?’ FBI OPEN UP!

Minecraft was in the “wait, that’s illegal” meme before it was even a thing

My laptop would bluescreen if I try reaching one of these

4:05 They must be hiding something, Minecraft can't be in illegal use, me and the boys about to break the limits of the game

So a bit down in the comments, Sulphurous pointed out that you can teleport just past 34 billion blocks out on Beta 1.7, even though you can't manually travel beyond 2.147 billion. I knew about the 34 billion limit, but I thought it was theoretical, like the 64-bit limit number. But it seems like you can skip over the 2.147 billion chunk via teleporting, and keep going. But at a very specific number, 34,359,738,368 (2^35 chunk limit offset) chunks begin overwriting themselves, and the game's framerate tanks to 0FPS within 5 seconds or so. Because of that, I feel that it IS possible to teleport past the 64 bit integer limit, but whether or I can get a single frame of it to load without the game crashing is another story. I'll give it a try.

Imagine accidentally entering the backrooms while doing this
