Israeli singer Eden Golan has qualified for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest after a public vote.

Her victory came hours after thousands of pro-Palestinian protestors gathered in the streets of Malmö, Sweden, where the contest is being held, to show their support for Gaza.

The night before, the 20-year-old singer had been booed during dress rehearsals. There was a mixture of cheering and booing again during Thursday's semi-final.

Israel's participation in Eurovision has been a source of controversy amid rising civilian deaths and a worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, after Israel launched a response to Hamas' cross-border attack on southern Israel on 7 October.

BBC reporters don't know the difference between a defensive war and an offensive war.

They had three other acts in Eurovision one being Australia as for Israel she is a young girl being harassed needing armed guards people screaming abuse at her she is amazing and she deserves to be there guess what she made it to the finals and all these people are truly disgusting they are nothing short than Hamas supporters shame on them and I wish this young woman all my best love from Ireland ❤

I expect a BBC correspondent to be more neutral first and better informed. Croatia's song is IN ENGLISH and therefore she shouldn't have had any problem in understanding the lyrics which, by the way make perfect sense. The song is about a touching universal theme and didn't deserve to be put away in the "usual Eurovision" pile.
